LEARNING By end of the lesson, pupils will be able to
OBJECTIVES:  revise the present simple tense: affirmative, negative, questions and
short answers by obtaining all 3 fill in the blanks questions in
Worksheet 1 and at least 7 of 10 fill in the blanks questions in
Worksheet 2 correctly.

By end of the lesson, pupils will be able to


 revise the present continuous tense: affirmative, negative, questions
and short answers by obtaining at least 5 of 7 fill in the blanks
questions in PULSE 2 book (page12) Exercise 7 correctly.
 identify and say out the actions performed by their friends in a full
sentence with the correct usage of present continuous tense.

ACTIVITIES: I. PRE-LESSON (Pair Work) (5 minutes)

1. Pupils are asked to work in pairs for this activity.

favourite movie and also their partner’s favourite movie respectively.
3. Pupils are picked randomly in pairs to present the sentences to the

II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT (45 minutes)


Pupils are asked to open PULSE 2 book page 12.

PART A
ACTIVITY 1

1. Pupils listen carefully to the rules of present simple tense on page 19


PULSE 2 book.
2. Pupils are given Worksheet 1 (APPENDIX I).
3. Pupils are asked to read and complete Worksheet 1 individually
based on the spelling rules explained.
4. Pupils exchange their Worksheet 1 with their partner next to them to
compare the answers.
5. Pupils are nominated in random to read and answer Worksheet 1 as a
class.

ACTIVITY 2
1. Pupils are given Worksheet 2 (APPENDIX II) and asked to complete
it individually.
2. Pupils exchange their Worksheet 2 with their partner next to them to
compare the answers.

3. Pupils are nominated in random to read and answers Worksheet 2 as


a class.
4. Pupils listen to the explanation on the usage of auxiliary verb do in
forming negative sentences and questions in English.

PART B

 Pupils guess the actions done by the teacher (walking, talking,


writing, teaching)
 Pupils listen to explanation about the actions shown.
The actions done are known as present continuous tense and this
tense is used to talk about things that are happening now.

ACTIVITY 1

1. Pupils listen to explanation about the rules of present continuous


tense based on the three examples given in Worksheet 3 (APPENDIX
III).
2. Pupils are given Worksheet 3 and asked to complete it individually.
3. Pupils exchange their Worksheet 3 with their partner next to them to
compare the answers.
4. Pupils are nominated in random to read and answer Worksheet 3 as a
class.

ACTIVITY 2
1. Pupils are asked to read the questions in Exercise 7 from PULSE 2
(page 12) book individually.
2. Pupils are guided for the first question as a class as an example.
3. Pupils are asked to complete the Exercise 7 individually.
4. Pupils compare their answers in pairs.
5. Pupils are nominated in random to read and answer Exercise 7 as a
class.

III. POST-LESSON (10 minutes)

ACTIVITY 1 (Pair Game: Guess the Actions!)

1. Pupils in groups of 2 to select in random a piece of paper from a box


that has 15 pieces of paper with each has an action written on it
(APPENDIX IX).
2. Pupils in groups of 2 are asked to mime the action written on the
paper chosen to the whole class.
3. Other pupils are asked to guess and say out the actions performed by
different pairs in a full sentence with the correct use of present
continuous tense.

ACTIVITY 2 (Homework)
1. Pupils are asked to complete the Homework sheet given to them at
home.
 The whole lesson is recapped.
REFLECTIONS: The lesson could not be completed due to time factor. Pupils entered
classroom late after attending to a co-curriculum talk. So, the class started
around 2.25pm. At the post lesson stage, only one pair was able to play the
game due to time constrain. A lot of repetition was done because selected
pupils were noisy which caused the other pupils not to be able to listen.
