Activity 4.2: Fats and Lipids

Answer the following questions:

a.     What are the types essential fatty acids? Give some of the food sources of EFA.

Linoleic Acid, Alpha-linoleic Acid, Arachidonic Acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, and


docosahexaenoic acid. Some of the food sources are: corn oil, safflower oil,
sunflower oil, fish oils, canola oil and soybean oil.

b.    Enumerate at least Five (5) sources for visible and non-visible fats

Visible:

-Butter,

-lard,

-clarified butter and cream,

-ghee

-margarine,

Non visible:

-Whole milk,

-cheese,

-avocados

-nuts

-fried foods
