4. Adjustment

4.1 Adjusting with an Adjusting Device (Instrument Calibration [EX CAL])

UPDATE TO NEW ADJUSTING DEVICE

4.2 Adjusting without an Adjusting Device (Internal Calibration [IN CAL])

Any known weight can be used for adjustment without using the adjusting device. It is recommended to
use at least Class M2 weight with at least >50% of the maximum load. The accuracy to be achieved is
directly dependent on the accuracy of the weight applied and the mass of the weights (the higher the
load, the more accurate the result).
Call up the Service Mode (refer to chapter 1.2) and navigate to the S-10.2.2 menu item (refer to
chapter 1.3). Perform the following steps in the "In CAL" adjustment menu as follows:

and no adjusting device is available. Manual edge calibration is only possible if the scale has
previously been adjusted once with an adjusting device.
Call up the Service Mode (refer to chapter 1.2) and navigate to the S-10.2.1.1 menu item (refer to

The "approval check" (AP-CH) function can be used to check whether the set values comply with
the requirements of the Calibration Law. If all the values are within the specified limits, "PASS" will
be displayed after checking. If they do not comply, "FAILt" will appear.

5. Software Update

5.1 Preparation
To download a software update, you need the following equipment:
1. USB to RS232 interface converter
2. Current firmware of the scale
3. PC with USB interface (at least Windows 7)
4. Software with the transfer program
You will receive the required hardware and software through our service.

5.2 Implementation
1. Remove the batteries from the scale and disconnect the mains adapter.
2. Connect the converter to the PC. In the converter, one LED will go on fully.
3. The drivers are automatically installed by Windows.
4. IMPORTANT: Wait until the driver installation is complete!
5. Connect the converter to the scale (Fig. 1.2). In the converter, one LED will go on fully and one
LED will be faint.
6. Remove the seal and remove the cover plate (ATTENTION: The approval is no longer valid).
7. Run the transfer program. The program can be run without installation.
8. Set up the program according to Pos. 1 of Fig. 1.1. The two checks on the bottom left are
important. The interface must be changed, if necessary: e.g. Com3 or the like – usually the
highest number.
9. Selection of the software provided (e.g. "EMC(V1.23).hex" from the memory location) according
to Pos. 2a and 2b of Fig. 1.1.
10. Confirmation of the transfer according to Pos. 3. In the converter, two LEDs will go on fully and
the middle LED will be faint.
11. Supply the scale with power (mains adapter or batteries).
The data transfer takes place automatically. The two outer LEDs will flash briefly, the middle
LED will flicker and the progress bar in the program will run according to Pos. 4 of Fig. 1.1.
12. When the transfer is complete, disconnect the scale from the power supply (battery and/or
mains adapter). Then, disconnect the converter from the PC and the scale.
13. Check and, if necessary, restore the settings of the scale and readjust the scale by means of an
adjusting device.
14. For use requiring mandatory calibration, the scale must be recalibrated by the calibration
authority.
