Department of Social Work

Proctoring Policy
All Exams
1. It is the policy of the Department of Social Work to have Proctored Exams in our Core practice classes.

2. All students are required to get approval of their external proctor before attending any proctored sessions.
No exceptions. Students will receive confirmation that the proctor has been approved by e-mail.

3. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange for a proctor. The instructor may approve or deny that proctor.
Please find below a list of potential proctors that may be approved or denied.

Potential Approval Will Not be Approved (No exceptions)

• Universities (professors and testing centers) • High school teachers
• Commercial testing centers (e.g., Sylvan) • Relatives
• Friends
• Coworkers/Employers
• Tutors

4. Proctoring exams on NSU campuses are free. If a student does not live near any of NSU campuses, he/she
may go to a testing center in a nearby university (it may make you pay a fee). For example, many NSU students
are from the Shreveport, LA area. They go to the testing center at a University located in Shreveport.

5. If the proctor works at a testing center, the student must show up during business hours. If the proctor works
at the NSU Department of Social Work, students usually may choose a time between 8am and 3pm to take the
exam.

6. You must present a picture ID to take the exam. No exceptions.

After reading the policy above, you should:

1. Take action! Print the External Proctor Approval Form (you will find it on the Proctor Form on Moodle) and
look for a proctor as soon as possible.

2. If you are using the same Proctor for all exams, only one form is needed for the semester. If you change
proctors, you must complete another approval form.

Only students who submit the form on or before the deadlines will be allowed to take the exams. No
exceptions. Do not leave it for the last minute. Remember that your instructor needs to approve your
proctor.
