OVERVIEW

 Tata Trusts aims to relentlessly pursue meaningful and irreversible
change in a variety of fields such as water, sanitation, health and
nutrition, education, innovation, technology and livelihood that impact the
lives of millions of Indians
 With numerous initiatives, interventions and programmes, the Trusts aim
not only to enhance and support lives, but to plant the seeds of self-
sustained growth for the secured futures of countless communities
BACKGROUND

 It was founded in the year 1868 by Jamsetji Tata after whom the company
has been named
 In 1904, after Jamsetji’s death, his oldest son - Sir Dorab Tata became the
chairman of the group
 After Dorab Tata, Nowraoji Saklatwala header the group (1938) and was
succeeded by Jahangir Ratangi Dadaboy Tata
 Ratan Tata, the incumbent chairman of the group succeeded JRD Tata in
1991

• The total disbursals made by the Trusts during the


year 2019 were `4,661.06 million (US $66.59
million)
• Disbursals of `4,106.65 million (US $58.67
million) were made on all programme grants
during the year
• Small grants touched `29.70 million (US $0.42
million)
• The total disbursals to individuals amounted to
`524.71 million (US $7.50 million).

Tata Trusts, a group of charitable entities that


owns two-thirds of Tata Sons exited from
the listed group companies, from Tata Steel
to Tata Motors, by selling their minority stake in
them to the holding company
LEADERSHIP
• Mr. Ratan .N. Tata was the Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991
till his retirement on December 28, 2012

• Mr Tata was the chairman of major Tata companies, including


Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, etc.

• He is the Chairman of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied


Trusts, and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Allied Trusts

• He also serves on the board of trustees of Cornell University


and the University of Southern California
RATAN .N. TATA • The Government of India honoured Mr Tata with its second-
highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. He has
also received honorary doctorates from several universities in
India and overseas
