Teaching Online Observation and Reflection Task

Observer Name: Mahra Albloushi School: AlKhleef KG

Grade: KG1-4 Platform Used: Microsoft teams

Teacher/Student Interactions:

1. Did the class promote student interaction via discussions and/or collaborative assignments?
Not that much most of the work is independently
2. Do students actively participate? Not all the students are active with the teacher, some of
them are not even around their laptop and whenever the teacher asked them to open their
mic they didn’t but on the other hand some of the children are participating with the teacher
and open their camera and mic when she asked them .
3. Are the classroom dynamics respectful? Yes, Also the students are quite and smart and the
parents are helpful and I feel that they are happy to have Arabic teacher who teach English .
4. Do the students interact well with each other? In each lesson the teacher start by welcoming
with her students and she let the students greet each others by saying: Good morning to - .
And sometimes she asked her students to choose someone to show their work when she ask
them to do something.
5. Is the teacher open and responsive to questions?  Yes , and she puts a time for the end of the
class for the parents to ask questions.

Effective Instruction:
1. What were the learning objectives of the lesson? Counting up to 10
2. Did the teacher present clear objectives or plans for the lesson? Yes she write in every
PowerPoint the learning objectives.
3. Did the teacher use various presentation formats (i.e., text, graphics, digital slides, video),
to appeal to different student learning styles and abilities? She used video, pictures and
writing by using whiteboard or notebook.
4. Does the teacher approach difficult concepts in a variety of ways: e.g., written English
explanations, ASL explanations, use of photos, animation, graphs or charts? No, everything
was super smooth and on the students age level.
5. Did the teacher model or explain different concepts? She explains everything for the
students and whenever they did’nt get the idea she show them how to do it.
6. Was there a clear connection/relationship between the objectives, content and the
material? Yes she connect everything to their theme (Grow in the garden) .

Active and Personalized Learning:

1. Active Online Learning: Are students actively signing, writing, typing or utilizing other forms of
self-expression? Did students have opportunities to gather information, synthesize, analyze and
solve problems? Were students engaged in collaborative learning activities?  Are there paired and
small group activities? Not all the students are participating.
2. Reflection: Are students participating in reflection on learning or outcomes? Sometimes yes
whenever they have a homework the send it to LMS.
3. Differentiation: Is there differentiation in the lesson or lessons? Are there some flexibility in

completing assignments in different formats or independence in picking a topic?  No that much
even in answering the students are answering as a whole group.

Assessment:
1. Were there examples of the assignments provided for the students?  Homeworks and their
indepent learning by using LMS.
2. Were students clear on what is expected from them? Yes and some students are having the
help from their family.
3. What formative assessment was done in the lesson? I did not see any.
4. Were there opportunities for informal feedback that does not involve grading? (e.g. class
discussion, paired feedback, small group draft presentation). Were there opportunities for
students to provide feedback for the teacher and course throughout the semester? No, I did
not see any.
5. Does the teacher ask questions and survey students for feedback? Was there feedback
provided to students? No

Use of technology:
1. What technology or platform is being used? Power point – Microsoft teams and her Laptop.
2. What special features does it have? To share with the students the slideshows.
3. How did the teacher use the technology to teach? She open her camera for the students and
start sharing the PowerPoint slides.
4. How did the technology support student learning? Support in a good and bad way, In a good
way because the students are having online teaching in their home and they keep safe in this
situation on the other hand the teacher can’t let all of the students participate in the lesson
because not all of the students are opening their camera and microphones.
5. Were there any challenges experienced by the teacher or student? Yes, the teacher cant
communicate with the children same as in school.
