• The first set of five Rafale aircrafts landed in Ambala Air Base in Haryana to join IAF’s team.

• Jodhpur air base was taken as an alternate option in case of any kind of emergency.
• On 27th July, five Rafale jets took off from Merignac airbase in Bordeaux, France to join the IAF.
• As the jets entered the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), stealth destroyer INS (Indian Naval Ship)
Kolkata, deployed in the Western Arabian Sea, as a part of welcoming procedure.
• The Rafale fighters were escorted by two Sukhoi 30 MKIs after they entered the Indian air space
• Notably, Rafale is the first imported fighter to be inducted into Service since the Sukhoi-30s from
Russia in the late 90s.
• The Ambala airbase also houses two squadrons of the Jaguar fighters and one squadron of MiG-
21 Bison. Hasimara in West Bengal will house the second Rafale squadron.

• The aircrafts were refueled by two French Air Force tanker aircraft mid air (One of them is carrying
ventilators and test kits with a team of 10 health experts to support India to combat against Covid-

• The fighter jets covered a distance of about 7,000 km from France to India and took a single halt
throughout the journey in an airbase in the UAE.
• The Dassault Rafale (literally meaning "gust of wind" and "burst of fire" in a more military sense) is
a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault
Aviation. The Rafale is referred to as an "omni role" aircraft by Dassault.
➢ The five jets were flown by pilots of the 17 Golden Arrows led by Commanding Officer Group
Captain Harkirat Singh along with Wing Commander Manish Singh, Wing Commander

National Clinical Registry of COVID-19 Patients

Kerala announced CM’s Entrepreneurship Development Program
to address working capital shortage
• Kerala government announced a new scheme namely “Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship
Development Program” to address the issues of shortage of working capital and availability of

credit faced by startups and small entrepreneurs amid COVID-19 pandemic. The program will be
implemented through the Kerala Financial Corporation
• Eligible firms would get loans up to Rs 10 crore as working capital on the basis of purchase orders
already received.
• Companies coming up with innovative need- based products or services would be eligible for an
assistance of Rs 1 crore and IT firms that have been approved by SEBI-accredited venture capital
funds would get Rs 10 crore.
• KFC will provide loans up to 90% of the project cost subject to a maximum of Rs 50 lakh at 10%
interest.
• The government will give 3% interest as subsidy thereby; the net interest rate will be 7%.

• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the 3 Million USD (about Rs.22 Crore)
from the ADB’s Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund (APDRF) to India to support the

➢ As a part of the 20 million USD expanded assistance for the developing member
countries’ pandemic response announced on 13th April 2020, COVID-19 pandemic
response option (CPRO) was established under the ADB’s Countercyclical Support

sex.

➢ The Bombay Flying Club is the oldest flying club in India. It is located at the Juhu aerodrome, Bombay (Mumbai).
➢ It was incorporated on 29 May 1928, and commenced instructions on 13 January 1929 when they received their
first two De Havilland Moth aircraft, presented to them by the Government of India. A third aircraft, A D.H. Moth
(Gipsy) was won by the Club as prize offered by Sir Charles Wakefield to the first Indian flying club which should
turn out 12 qualified pilots, of whom at least six were to be Indians. The Club used these aircraft for tuition, joy-
rides, and air travel. The activities of the club were, unfortunately, limited by the fact that the aerodrome at
Juhu was not suitable during the monsoon. This problem was solved by 1937. The Club received its license to
build a hangar and garages at the aerodrome on 17 August 1931.
