SW/DRILL ANOVA

Name: Amarila, Jan-Rhada I. Date: November 9, 2020

Grade and Section: 9 – Edison

2. Use ANOVA at 5% level of significance to determine which student (A, B, or C) will be

granted with the ABC Scholarship based on their academic performances in mathematics.
A B C
122 111 132
100 123 150
155 134 100
145 143 122
133 144 155
143 122 144
132 155 111

1. Define Null and Alternative Hypothesis

H0 : μA = μB = μC
Ha : μA ≠ μB ≠ μC

H0: There is no significant difference between the mean academic performances in

mathematics of the three students for the ABC scholarship.
Ha: There is a significant difference between the mean academic performances in
mathematics of the three students for the ABC scholarship.

2. State Alpha
α = .05

3. Calculate Degrees of Freedom

dfwithin = N – k = 21 – 3 = 18
dftotal = N – 1 = 27 -1 = 20

4. State the F-Critical Value

Fcritical = 3.55

6. State Results
Computed value = 0.04244
Tabular value = 3.55

= 0.04244 < 3.55

= Fail to Reject H0
= ✓ H0 : μA = μB = μC
= =✘ Ha : μA ≠ μB ≠ μC

The computed value, 0.04244, is greater than tabular value, 3.56 , so the null hypothesis
is accepted.

7. State Conclusion

Therefore, there is no significant difference between the academic

performances in mathematics of students A, B, C. Hence, the three students
have almost equal chances of granted with the ABC Scholarship.
