If you are reading this file you presumably have been able to download and unzip ExcelOMQMv5.zip
from the web site.

Starting Excel OM/QM

Excel OM/QM is an Excel add-in but it does not stay loaded in Excel. You must start Excel OM/QM each
time you want to use it. To use Excel OM/QM you need to open the file ExcelOMQMv5.XLAM that is in
this folder. You must open this XLAM file from the same folder that contains the license file,
ExcelOMQMv5.LIC or …

Using an Alias

Rather than starting Excel OM/QM from the folder in which it resides you can create an alias for
ExcelOMQMv5.XLAM and place it on your desktop to make it easy to open Excel OM/QM.

1. Locate the file ExcelOMQMv5.xlam

2. Right-click on the file
3. Select “create an alias”
4. Copy the alias and paste it to your desktop

First time

In Excel 2015, the first time that you open Excel OM /QM you will be asked to grant access to the
License file (LIC) and to the ribbon file. Please grant access. This should not happen after the first time
you open the software

Run off of thumb drive

Excel OM/QM can be run off of a thumb drive if you are using a computer that does not have Excel
OMQMv5 installed. Simply place the folder excelOMQMv5 onto the thumb drive and open the file
ExcelOMQMv5.xlam.

Zoom

On my MacBook Air, the default display of any Excel spreadsheet is difficult for me to read because of
the small size of the cells and their contents. There is an option in Excel OM/QM to set the default zoom
for the spreadsheets that are created by Excel OM/QM. This is a very useful option. Select User
Preferences from the Excel OM/QM tab and then change the default zoom.

Troubleshooting: Required Excel Version

If you have problems opening Excel OM, for example, if you receive a compiler error message, it may be
that you do not have the latest update to your version of Excel. You must have the latest update to Excel
whether you are using Excel 2011 or Excel 2015/2016. The version can be found from Excel’s ABOUT
menu in the EXCEL menu.

For Excel 2015 you must have Version 14.7 or later. For excel 2015/2016 you must have Version 15.28 or
later.

To Check for Updates go to the Excel HELP menu.
