Where is the Amazon located?

Amazonas is one of 32 departments in Colombia, located in the southern part of the country,
largely south of the equatorial line. It is the largest Colombian department in terms of territorial
extension and is composed entirely of the territory of the Amazon Rainforest. To the north it
borders the departments of Caquetá and Vaupés and to the northwest with the department of
Putumayo. The rest of its territory is of international border: to the east with Brazil and to the
south and southeast with Peru. Amazonas is the longest-running department in the country's
international boundaries.

The southern portion of the department, south of the Putumayo River, is called "Amazonian
Trapecio", which includes the triple border of Colombia, Peru and Brazil, Colombian access to the
Amazon River , its southern boundary - and the capital of the department, the city of Leticia.

What can you do there?

in the Amazon we can see the sighting of dolphins, these inhabit in the course of the main
tributaries of the Amazon River and the Orinoco below 400 meters above sea level. In the rainy
season it moves to the flooded areas of the jungle, where there is a greater supply of food.
