BUSINESS LITERACY

Section No.1

From: Professor Omar A. Tovar N

To: All teams in Section No. 1, Tuesday 10:00-12:40
Subject: Weekly Evaluation Homework No.3
Date delivered: October 27, 2020
Closing Date: October 30, 23:59 Hours.

During this week we will study the 116 expressions most commonly used in the General
Management business. These expressions taken from our BUSINESS LITERACY
UNIVERSE are conveniently listed in the excel sheet entitled Section 1, Class 3, General
Management available in the Archive Section and in the Google Drive section.
This excel sheet has been prepared to be used as part of a collaborative effort of all teams.
You will see that the excel sheet is conformed by three columns: expression number,
expression name and expression definition. You will also see that the expressions have
been distributed by teams, and the teams’ numbers are listed on top of each distribution.

The first part of the homework will be for each team to write the correct definition of the
expressions allocated in the expandable third column of the sheet in the Google Drive. Take
them from a good dictionary, specialized publication or any other applicable source. See
the bibliography offered in the Introductory Module. By so doing the information will be
available to all the teams in your section. Each member of a team must study each one of
the expressions listed in the weekly sheets since some of them will be used for the
programmed partial tests.

The second part of the homework is to open a word file and prepare a short paragraph, no
more than 5 lines, Calibri 11, using each allocated expression in its correct context. I need
to know not only that you understand the meaning of each allocated expression but that you
can also use it in a correct context. Be very careful with the grammar, the spelling and the
syntaxis (grammatical arrangement of words to form sentences) to render a well written
paragraph. Context, spelling, grammar and syntaxis will be graded. Just imagine that you
work for a foreign corporation and are addressing a director of the corporation, you for sure
do not want to cause a bad impression.

Each team must deliver the word file using the pro-forma cover page posted in the
introductory module. Use the “assignment (tareas)” provision of the Forum specifically
prepared to receive it. Do it in advance to the closing time, it is my best recommendation,
no other forms of delivery will be accepted. No internet or electricity failure or excuses of
any kind will be accepted. Late reports will receive a zero grade. Each team has three days
to prepare and deliver its report. Keep in mind that this Professor also has three days to
review and grade some 100 hundred paragraphs per section before the next coming class.

The grade for the collective effort of the team will be applied to each one of the members
listed in the cover page. I will understand that non listed members did not participate to
produce the homework and will receive a zero grade. Remember that each one of this
weekly homework will add to your 40% contribution to your final grade.
