General Guidelines
✓ The different competing events for 2020 UDM Criminology Days are as follows:
o Academic Competition
1. Criminology Quiz Bee
2. Oratorical Speech Contest
3. Essay Writing Contest
o Skills-based Competition
1. Handwriting Identification
2. Firearm Assembly and Disassembly
3. Case-base Scenario Competition
o Sports Competition
1. Basketball (Men)

3. Tug of War (Men & Women)
o Pageant Competition
1. Search for 2020 UDM Criminology Ambassador and Ambassadress
2. Gender Sensitivity Pageant (CrimGay)
✓ All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing events must
be bona fide students of the college.
✓ All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing events must
belong to the five (5) participating teams to wit:
o Black Troopers
o Blue Warriors
o Red Commandos
o White Shinobi
o Yellow Assassins
✓ All students who are interested to join the Sports Competition are required to furnish
the organizers Medical Clearance issued by the University Physician before they will be
permitted to compete.
✓ All students of each team who are interested to join the different competing events are
required to submit their Entry Forms to the concern organizers within the prescribed
period and format.
✓ Giving any false information on the entry form is a reason for immediate disqualification.
✓ All players/participants should wear upper garments which represents the color of their
teams. Moreover, players of sports events should wear appropriate sports attire (e.g
comfortable shorts and rubber shoes) or else they will be given technical violations.
✓ All participating teams must be on time and at the venue fifteen (15) minutes before the
scheduled game/competition or else they will be place in default.

✓ Overall pointing system in the different competing events is as follows:
✓ All scores/points are final and non-appealable upon receipt by the organizers from the
Board of Judges.
Academic Competition
1. Each participating team should have a team of three members compose of one (1)
member per year level (2nd – 4th year).
2. The questions will cover Criminology Major Subjects from the following Areas:
a. Criminal Sociology, Ethics and Human Relations;
b. Law Enforcement Administration;
c. Criminal Investigation and Detection;
d. Correctional Administration;
e. Criminal Law and Jurisprudence;
f. Criminalistics.
3. There is No elimination round in the competition.
4. The competition is composed of three (3) rounds with ten (10) questions each.
a. Easy Round – 5pts
b. Intermediate Round – 10pts
c. Difficult Round – 15pts
d. Tie Breaking Questions – 1pts
5. Each Set is made up of multiple choice and identification type of questions.
6. The question will be read twice and will be projected on Screen. A thirty second
timer will start after the quiz master says “GO”.

7. Each team will write their answer on the provided answer board.
8. Each Team will be assigned a team number that must be place on the upper right-
hand corner of the answer board for proper identification.
9. The answer will be announced and projected on screen after the timer expires for
every question.
10. The proctors in the competition will validate the answer if it is correct or wrong
and if there are queries, the proctors will answer that particular query.
11. The team which garnered the highest total number of points in the competition
will be declared the champion. The next team will be declared as Runner-Up.
Skills-based Competition
D. Handwriting Identification
1. Each team will send representatives in a group composed of two (2) students with
one (1) male and (1) female participants.
2. The competition on handwriting identification will be in 45 minutes only.
3. Each participant will be given one set of standard handwriting template grouped
into two.
4. The participants will identify and match the 30 combinations.
5. The participants who completed the 30 combinations must submit immediately
the template to the officials for recording. Each submitted template will be
numbered upon submission.
6. The first and down to the last participants who submitted will be ranked based on
their number of correct answers. In case of a tie, the reference number (marked
during submission of the template) will define who submitted first among them.
*Manner of Disassembly and Assembly for Caliber .45 pistol are the following:
1. The firearm is loaded with a blank cartridge case and magazine for safety
reason.
2. The first (1st) and third (3rd) member shall disassemble the firearm in the
following order.
a. Release first the magazine.
b. Check the chamber and unload/remove the empty cartridge case.
c. Release the hammer by guiding the trigger and the hammer.
d. Position the firearm in vertical form.
e. Remove the plug.
f. Remove the barrel bushing.
g. Remove the slide top.
h. Separate the slide from the frame.
i. Remove the recoil spring followed by the recoil spring guide.
j. Remove the barrel.
3. The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) member shall assemble the firearm in reverse
procedure stated above. But the fourth (4th) member will load the blank
ammunition and fire the firearm to test if it is fully operational. The time will
stop after the firearm fired.
*Manner of Disassembly and Assembly for Caliber 5.5/M16 rifle are the following:
1. The firearm is loaded with a blank cartridge case and magazine for safety
reason.
2. The first (1st) and third (3rd) member shall disassemble the firearm in the
following order.
a. Released first the magazine.
b. Check the ejection port if it is loaded.
c. Separate the upper receiver from the lower receiver by unlocking the lock
pin
d. Remove the bolt carrier and charging handle.
e. In the bolt carrier, remove the retaining pin followed by the following:
firing pin, cam pin and last the bolt.
f. Remove the buffer assembly.
g. Separate the buffer and buffer spring.
3. The second (2nd) and fourth (4th) member shall assemble the firearm in reverse
procedure stated above. But the fourth (4th) member will load blank
ammunition and fire the firearm to test if it is fully operational. The time will
stop after the firearm fired.
General Rule:
▪ Upon disassembly and assembly of firearms, the parts should be placed properly
and in an orderly manner.
▪ Additional ten (10) seconds will be added on the official time of the group for every
violation.
▪ Upon discretion of the judge/s, if the participant could not disassemble, assemble
and fire the firearm, the judge/s and/or member of the committee will assist but
still the participants will be given penalty of One (1) minute additional on their
official time.
▪ Violations will be recorded by the judge/s and/or member of the committee.
▪ Violations will be tallied and total to identify the number of violations in the
competition.
Violations:
▪ Trigger finger off the trigger.
▪ Improper checking of chamber/ejection port.
▪ Improper and/or disorganize placement of firearm parts.
▪ Participant who will run immediately without waiting for him to be tapped.

F. Case-base Scenario Competition (to be announce)
Sports Competition
G. Basketball (Men)
1. Each team shall be composed of fifteen (15) players from different year levels.
2. The game is divided into four quarters with ten minutes in each quarter except in
the last 5 minutes of last quarter and overtime wherein the clock is in stop time
and the shot clock is set to 24 seconds. Each quarter consist of two full time out.
3. The team who will get two (2) loses in the first ball game will be automatically
eliminated in the game 4
4. Upon submission of Entry Forms, Team Captains will draw lots to decide the order
of their game for the elimination round.
H. Dodgeball (Mixed)
1. Each team shall be composed of ten (10) members, five (5) males and five (5)
females.
2. Playing Procedures:
a. Play will be 20 on 20. A minimum of 18 members is required to start the
game.
b. Play will be held inside the Rectangle w/ Center Line Court.
c. Substitution will be allowed during change of quarter. Team may substitute
between games.
d. There will be (2) Two Quarter in Each game. Time will be divided into 1/2.
Example: 5 minutes of game divided into two equals to 2 minutes and 50
seconds. Therefore, every quarter is composed of 2 minutes and 50 seconds
game.
e. No substitutions will be allowed once a game has started, expect for
injuries. There is a 15 second stall count between each game for
substitutions. No substitutions will be allowed after the 15 second count.
f. (5) Minutes of game for Preliminaries, (7) Minutes of game for Semi-Finals
and (10) Minutes of game for Finals. Team with the most wins in the 10
minutes will be deemed the winner. If teams are tied, there will be a sudden
death game to determine match winner.
g. Note: Death Game is Composed of 5 minutes game. Offensive/Defensive
play will be decided in a Toss Coin.
h. All players must wear non-marking rubber-soled athletic shoes, if available
their Team-shirt.
i. Game time is forfeit time, if your team is not there at your scheduled time
you will forfeit.
j. Team will switch ends of the court between every game.
3. The Game:
a. The objective of dodgeball is to eliminate all players of the opposing team
by throwing game balls and hitting the opposing player below the shoulders
on the fly.
b. Starting the Game. The Offensive/Defensive Position will be selected by a
Toss Coin. Every hit is composed of 1 point.
c. Eliminating the Opposing Players
i. A player is out if:
1. They throw a ball that is caught by the other team.
2. They get hit by a ball thrown by the other team.
3. They hit another player above the shoulders.
4. They cross the center line.
ii. A player is not out if:
1. Their ball is caught off the wall or ceiling.
2. They get hit above the shoulders.
d. Out of Bounds. A ball that hit any wall or ceiling is considered dead and is

not back in play until someone has picked up the balls and throws it at an
opponent.
e. Off-Sides. The center line is the off-sides line. If any part of your foot or
body touches the center line, you will be declared out and thrown ball will
be dead.
f. Stall Count. No player can hold the ball for longer than 5 seconds.
Penalty- roll the ball gently to the other team. The opposing team is
responsible for calling the stall count. For example: Stall 1, Stall 2, Stall
3…Stall 5. Then at this point the player must roll the ball over or is out.
g. Court Procedures. Players are expected to be honest and take themselves
out when the time comes. Once a player is out, they must stand with their
back against the team’s right-side wall. Players should not squat due to
risk of being hit. Do not leave the racquetball court during game play
unless an injury occurs.
1. Each team shall be composed of a maximum of ten (10) members. However, the
combined weight of these members should not exceed six hundred kilos (600 kg).
2. Every team must have one (1) group of participants for Male Category and another
one (1) group for Female Category.
3. The game involves usage of rope with a red mark in the middle. This red mark on
the rope needs to be at perpendicular angle to the exact center point on the ground
before the commencement of the game. A white mark is made exactly thirteen (13)
feet from the red mark on either side of the rope.
4. The objective of the game is for each team to pull the rope along with the members
of opposition team to their side. As soon as the referee blows the whistle, each team
can start pulling the rope into their territory.
5. As soon as the white mark on the rope from the center red mark crosses over to
center line, the team to pull the rope to their area three (3) times wins the game.
6. Foul which can call in for disqualification:
a. Lowering elbow below the knee level while pulling the rope or “locking”
b. Touching the ground for a long period of time
7. The team who will get two (2) loses will be automatically eliminated in the game
Pageant Competition
1. Each team must field one (1) male candidate for Criminology Ambassador Title
and one (1) female for Criminology Ambassadress Title, both of which aside from
the qualifications in the general guidelines are:
a. Contestants must be single, minimum of 5’2 in height for female and 5’4
height for male, in good health and of good moral character.
b. Must be able to attend all schedule activities and rehearsals.
2. The Pageant and Coronation Night has the following segments, to wit:
a. Production
b. Sports Wear
c. Talent
d. Formal Wear
e. Question and Answer
3. Candidates will be given a maximum of five (5) minutes for their talent
presentation. They can be assisted by other team mates to fully perform their talent
during the pageant. They must provide their own accompaniment in a CD/DVD or
USB copy.
4. Criteria for Judging:
Intelligence 40%

Beauty, Poise, Personality 30%
Talent 20%
Piso Vote 10%
Total 100%
5. Special Awards: Best in Production, Best in Sports Wear, Best in Talent, Best in
Formal Wear, Best in Question and Answer, Mister and Miss Popularity, Mister
and Miss Photogenic.
6. Schedule of Events:
1. Each team must field maximum of two (2) male candidates from 4th or 5th year
level only for CriminoloGay Title. Candidates will compete for the opportunity to
advocate for LGBT equity in the Field of Criminal Justice and their role into
mainstream life in the Philippine society.
2. Candidates must be able to attend all schedule activities and rehearsals.
3. The Pageant and Coronation Night has the following segments, to wit:
a. Production
b. Sports Wear
c. Talent
d. Formal Wear
e. Question and Answer
4. Candidates will be given a maximum of five (5) minutes for their talent
