ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and the key points of your platform.

COA taught me service, and COA is where I am needed to serve organizations better.

My platform focuses on giving organizations what they really need. First is effectively allocating and
budgeting so that COA will be able to use it on more urgent needs (bigger project grants, more
seminars). Second is streamlining the financial processes by decentralizing the tasks of the Finance
Officer. Third is expanding the Office of the Finance Officer to provide more services to the
organizations.

I believe that service is not about doing more, but doing what is really needed.

IV. PLATFORM

1) Reinforced Budgeting and Allocation


Details:
• Efficient financial system through dialogues, effective budgeting through consultation
• Ensure that COA is properly allocating its resources for the benefit of the organizations.
• Finding opportunities to maximize the project grant system by reallocating expenses, setting benchmark prices
for council expenses, or through constant dialogue with offices.
• More extensive financial reports, published once every two months, so that organizations can see clearly where
COA’s money is going.

2) Stronger Secretary-Treasurer Networking


Details:
• Expanding on the connection between the Secretary-General and the Secretary-Treasurers.
• Streamlining the financial process by decentralizing the role of the finance officer.
• Focusing on equipping Secretary-Treasurers with the necessary tools to effectively fulfill their roles as the chief
financial officer of the cluster.
• Increasing connection with the Office of the Secretary-General to ensure that financial guidelines and processes
are properly disseminated to COA constituents in order for daily tasks to be done efficiently

3) Formative programs for COA constituents and Finance Officers


Details:
• Marketing Seminars for organizations – equipping organizations with the necessary skills, while giving
organizations opportunities to utilize their core competencies to help their fellow constituents.
• Finance Best Practices Sessions – networking sessions between organization finance officers to share
experiences with finances and tips in doing daily responsibilities. It is also an opportunity to form bonds between the
organization finance officers.

4) Expansion of the Office of the Finance Officer


Details:
• The goal is to form a closely-knit team of people competent and capable of fulfilling the finance and marketing
needs of the council.
• ExTeam deployment – when needed, one member from each ExTeam will be deployed to the F&M ExTeam to
form ExTeam members who are immersed in financial matters of COA while remaining active in their ExTeams
• Cluster and event deployment – members from the F&M ExTeam will be deployed to the different cluster
cores and COA event cores to ensure that financial and marketing matters are done well.
• Consultation Services – the office of the FO will be open to organization to avail of finance and marketing
service.

5) COA Resource Database


Details:
• Create an extensive database of suppliers, sponsors, and other contacts for the use of the COA community.
• It is a collaborative effort of members of the community to ensure that everyone can find contacts who offer the
best services at the most reasonable costs
• Opportunity for COA to form year-long partnerships/sponsorships for the benefit of organizations (COA
Privilege cards for organizations)
