We hope you enjoy your new computer and it serves you well in your business operations. As you
work with your new computer, there are 5 things you should know:
The IRC currently supports the Windows 7 Operating System. For a quick tour of Windows 7, check out these
great Microsoft tutorials.
IRC Shortcuts
We have placed a few helpful links on your desktop for easy access to key IRC applications:
IRC Webmail
Grants management system (OTIS)
Intranet (RescueNet)
IT self-service
You’ll also find a quick link for sending a request to the help desk
Action Item! If you have not already done so, take a minute now to sign up for IT self-service. This
site will allow you to easily reset, unlock, and change your password all without having to wait for
assistance from our limited helpdesk team.
Chrome (your default browser) as well as Internet Explorer 11 are included with your new computer
for you to use as you prefer. Please keep in mind that there are some business applications that
perform better with Internet Explorer 9 over Chrome, including RescueNet and IRIS. For a list of what
applications work best with which browser, see our Software Inventory Guide.
For more information on getting around in Chrome, please click here for a quick tutorial. For
Internet Explorer 11, please click here for IE11 tutorials.
We’ve already set your homepage to RescueNet for you in both browsers.
The IRC is beginning to use Microsoft Office 2013. For more information on getting around Microsoft
Office 2013, please visit the Office 2013 Quick Start Guides.
Getting Help
As always, the IRC Helpdesk is here to assist you with your computer. If you have any questions or issues,
please check out our ever-improving knowledge base on IT's RescueNet Site. And, of course, if you can’t find
your answers there, don’t hesitate to contact us at helpdesk@rescue.org.
