ACTIVITYSHEET
School: Blessed Sacrament Catholic School
Name: AMONG US GIRLS Date: November 09, 2020
Level & Section: 10- Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Subject: Mathematics
Type of Activity: Module Activity
Activity Title: Let’s Investigate Module No. 2 (2nd Quarter)

1. Choose a partner and do the investigation on pages 157 – 159 from your NSM 10 Worktext (2017).
Discuss your output with your partner. You may also access the links below and download. Follow the
instructions written on it. Do also Part 3 on page 159.

I. Part 3 on page 159.

a. Which two of the three condition on page 361 are satisfied?
- In this part of investigation activity, the 2 of the three-condition stated in the problem were
the first two conditions (Condition 1 and 2).

b. Does the line l pass through the center O of the circle that you have marked in Question 5?
- No, as we can see in the figure, the line did not pass through the point 0 (center of the
circle).
a. Circle Symmetric Property 1 Part 1:

1. What do you notice about the length of AM and AB?
- Length of AM and MB are congruent.
2. What do you call point M?
- Point is a perpendicular bisector. It cuts the line and form 90°.

b. Circle Symmetric Property 1 Part 2:

a. What do you notice about the size of ∠𝐴𝑀𝑂 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∠𝐵𝑀𝑂?
- As we can see here, the length of ∠𝐴𝑀𝑂 is congruent to the ∠𝐵𝑀𝑂. If we observe the figure
very well, the bisector affected why the length of ∠𝐴𝑀𝑂 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∠𝐵𝑀𝑂 are congruent. So, we
conclude that ∠𝐴𝑀𝑂 = ∠𝐵𝑀𝑂 because 𝑂𝑀 ⊥ 𝐴𝐵.

2. Based on the investigation activity, discuss the three given conditions on page 160 regarding the line, the
chord, and the center of the circle.

1. The first condition states that if line l passes through the center and perpendicular to chord AB, then
the line bisects chord AB.
2. The second condition states that if line l passes through the center and bisects chord AB, then the line
is perpendicular to chord AB.
3. The last and third condition states that if line l bisects the chord and is perpendicular to it, then line l
passes through the line.
3. Do the investigation on pages 163 – 164 from your NSM 10 Worktext (2017). Discuss your output with your
partner. You may also access the links below and download. Follow the instructions written on the link.

a. Circle Symmetric Property 2 Part 1

1. What do you notice about the distance of both chords from the center?
- According to our observation, when the distance of the chord from the center is equal, the
length of the chord is also congruent.

a. Circle Symmetric Property 2 Part 2

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ia1ZItS6fuK9PKo1z8fGC7XTNXxW6DXO/view?usp=sharing
1. What can you say about the length of the chords DC and AB?
- As we can see here, the length of the chords is congruent when their distance from the center
of the circle is equal.

2. Questions to Ponder!
Answer the questions below. Discuss your answers with your partner.
Write your answers on another sheet of paper.
a. How are chords and secants alike? How are they different?
Chord and secant line are lines that intersect a circle in exactly two points. However, a chord is
a “segment” that “joins” two distinct points in a circle. A secant, in the other hand, is a “line” that “cuts” any
curve in two different two points in a circle.

b. Explain how you can determine from the context whether the words radius and diameter are
referring to segments or lengths.
According to our background knowledge, when we say segments in radius and
diameters, it refers to the object of figure. In the other hand, when we say lengths, obviously,
it refers to measurements.

Discuss the following symmetric properties of circles that you learned in the previous investigation
activities. You may provide your own examples and illustrations. You may use other resource materials for your
discussions. Kindly cite your references. Be ready to discuss your work in your online class or screenshot or
send your work. Write your answers on another sheet of paper.
