This case refers to detail study on Agro Processing clusters of Bangladesh specially focusing on Faridpur

There are 10612 numbers of enterprises generating annual turnover TK 108.54 million/enterprise having
approximately 610848 no’s workers in the identified 34 clusters in 20 districts. Faridpur is famous for its
high quality pulse especially for lentils though they produce versatile products like mungbean, grasspea,
chickpea, black gram also other than that. There are around 1925 skilled & non skilled workers, 100 mills
with its growing demand of lentils & other products. This has been potential cluster since it's inception
and annual growth rate 5%. Inspite of these potentialities, they have very limited source to collect the
raw materials, limited duration of production due to unavailability of RM's, no structured distribution
channel, no advanced technological adaption, no promotional and branding strategy, no structured flow
of forecasting. Also, they have set backs of middlemen involvement, spot pricing, high cost of RM' s, lack
of variety of products in same firm, fixed and labor cost during off season and many more which made
their supply chain comparatively inefficient and irresponsive.
