Colby Evans Letter of Introduction

Dear Ms. Knudsen and Grade 5s,

My name is Colby Evans, I am attending my fourth year at the University of

Lethbridge; majoring in Kinesiology and Education. I am excited to work
within your classroom and truly hope to learn and grow from my experiences
with you and your class.
I am from Carstairs, Alberta, where I grew up
on my family farm. I participated in all kinds of
sports like, hockey, baseball, football,
badminton, golf, and curling, in which I learned
lots on teamwork and leadership. I used what I
learned with these activities to give back and
coach some of them, as a goalie coach in minor
hockey for five years, and head coach of
badminton and baseball for two years. I truly
love sports and physical activity, and enjoy
teaching the rules and strategy to kids, and
helping them develop their skills.
In my spare time I
also participated in our local 4-H program for
several years and took on the treasure and
parliamentarian executive positions. In 4-H each
year I raised a steer project that I fed, trained,
and groomed each day until the sale. 4-H taught
me many things like public speaking, decision
making skills, organization, record keeping and
leadership. These skills will help benefit my
teaching ability, as I helped mentor young

members and put on multi-judging clinics, tutorials, and counselled some 4-H
camps.
Growing up on the farm I also learned a lot about responsibility from taking
care of animals and the land. Because of this, for two summers I had the
privilege of working for the Calgary Stampede as a beef ambassador. This
position has me educate the public on beef related agriculture, and the entire
process of how we get food. This experience has helped guide me to choose
teaching as a career, as I enjoy helping people learn, and have realised how
important education really is. In the future I hope to implement some
agricultural education programs in schools and teach students about where

our food comes from.

I look forward to working with you this semester and am very eager to learn
as much as I can from you. Thank you for helping provide me with this
opportunity.

Sincerely,
October 5th, 2020

Colby Evans
