part twelve of the book

in an afternoon after swimming ari and dante,

Dante looked at his feet and Ari found it funny, and Ari couldn't stop smiling.

dante told ari to explain why he was smiling but ari did not answer dante,

dante liked to be told the truth and ari compared dante with his father because he liked people to
tell the truth.

ari liked that dante was funny.

later ari and dante heard some boys who were killing some birds. Dante and Ari came out to see
what was happening and told the boys who were aiming at the birds, that they stop killing the
birds.

But the other boys did not want to do it, so Dante threatened them but he was afraid that they
would hurt his friend Dante and decided to be rude with the other boys to prevent them from
hurting his friend Dante.

on the way home dante saw a dead bird and dante cried and ari was just watching him. and ari did
not understand why dante was very sensitive to the world and nature and ari just thought that his
friend dante was a special or different boy
