MEMORANDUM
TO: EH Field Ops / R&M Supervisors, EH Ops Managers

RE: QHSE Training – Supervisors

Dear Colleagues
In the past few weeks we have seen several serious incidents involving injury to some of our
supervisory personnel. In discussions with your GZ QHSE Managers and our corporate function we
believe some focused QHSE training for supervisors may provide some assistance in the education of
our core processes, I want to ensure you have a voice in this process.
Consequently, I am requesting you and your operations management complete a survey for a basic
needs analysis, the results of which need to be entered into Sharepoint. Although we are at an early
stage of evaluation we are considering a 12-hour session split across two days within the working
week (6 + 6 hours), by doing this we hope to increase the attendance while considering the impact to
your daily duties. All that is required is for you to consider a list of aspects on the following page and
determine if you feel some training in these areas would be beneficial to you, then communicate this
to your OM, preferably this can be done in a team meeting. Operations Management then compile
the physical number of people who agree with any aspect by 06th June 2019 and enter it into the
template in the link below. Refer to the example on the following page. As a supervisor please do
not fill this template in, the OM needs to do this, so the data is entered singularly by product line /
country, not by individual.
This is the link: http://theportal/mena/qhsse/Lists/SupervisorsTrainingNeeds/AllItems.aspx
With the prescribed training time above please be advised that we will not be able to cover every
aspect, as such we intend to focus on the majority, depending on the results we may consider further
training provision later. Additionally, we are currently working on a more effective methodology for
delivering Operational Risk Management training, so you will note that this particular initiative is not
designed to provide this.
I also apologise in advance for those of you who may be unable to participate in this survey due to
work commitments or absence.
Although the response to surveys has been historically variable I strongly encourage you to take some
time to tell us how we can better help you, your opinions are very important to us.

Example

Product Line has 1 Operations Manager, 6 Supervisors. The following survey is embedded in
Sharepoint, this example is posted for reference. In this case if we were to pick the top five most
popular aspects they would be WCAP, Hazard Handbook, Stop Work Authority, Materials for
Workshops, Hazard Hunts. We would also consider Incident Management, Pressure & Dropped
Objects depending on the volume of material required for the first five priorities considering the
proposed two 6 hour sessions. Where there an aspect has no agreement please make sure to put
zero so that the submission can proceed.
