1. OBJECTIVES
To ensure that the project delivered is being implemented as planned and delivering the intended outcome.
Design validation results will be documented in any form and kept in record.

2. SCOPE
This Standard Procedure applies to the projects for which basic design package is the responsibility of the
Company’s Design Department.

3. RESPONSIBILITY
Lead Project Engineer or his nominee will be responsible for process validation of the design.
The LE Mechanical or his nominee will be responsible for design validation of stamped products or where
Authorized Inspector will be involved.

4. ABBREVIATIONS/DEFINITIONS
AI Authorized Inspector

Client Company that hires AIN to perform engineering and project management services

DE Design Engineer

Discipline Process, Mechanical etc.

Document Term synonymously used for drawings, data sheets, specifications, calculations etc.

EL Engineering Lead, a person nominated within Design Department for project. One
Engineering Lead may handle multiple projects simultaneously. This functionary will lead
and make sure that the design team will achieve the desired output.
EM Engineering Manager

LE Lead Engineer

LPE Lead Project Engineer

MOC Management of Change

PE Project Engineer, a person nominated within Engineering Department for each project.
One Project Engineer may handle multiple projects simultaneously. This functionary acts
as single point contact between Client and design department.

5. PROCEDURE
Design validation will be carried out in two phases based on scope of work. The first phase is mechanical
and second is process design validation.

5.1. Mechanical Design Validation
5.1.1. Mechanical design validation will be accomplished for stamped equipment/product.
5.1.2. Nominated PE will contact AI for all practical purposes.
5.1.3. Nominated LE will provide design output and supporting documents, if any, to AI for design
validation according to the relevant code.
5.1.4. AI will return validated design documents to LE.

5.2. Process Design Validation


Process design validation is carried out at site when all the equipment are in place at their respective
locations and interconnected according to the design and detailed engineering documents.
5.2.1. Process design validation is carried out by the Client’s commissioning team.
5.2.2. LE or Nominated PE will seek process design validation data from Client for the Company’s record
and future reference, however, sharing of validation data by Client with the Company is at the sole
discretion of the Client.
5.2.3. In the situation mentioned in 5.2.2 above, Client intimation to company regarding project
commissioning / operation in the form of e-mail / issuance of certificate or whatsoever will be
considered as successfully process design validation.
5.2.4. Client may contact the company in case of variation in process parameters with respect to the
intended results during process design validation keeping in view that all the input conditions are
as per approved design basis.
5.2.5. In case of change in design input data, the Client may contact the Company for modification /
change in project documents in accordance to achieve his desired set of results.
5.2.6. The situation mentioned in 5.2.5 above will be reviewed and carried out as per Management of
Change Procedure EMT-SOP-008.
