There is a need, therefore, to take up measures so that industries implement the standards. BIS on its partis taking up standard promotion activities, but these efforts will have greater impact only if the Department of Agriculture of your State Government make efforts to promote the use of standards by undertaking aggressive advocacy programmes with the manufacturing firms and organizations, issuing advisories/directions to them and making the compliance with the important standards mandatory 6. I would like to request you, therefore to take immediate proactive steps to ensure the implementation of Indian Standards by the manufacturers/ producers of your State in the Pesticides Sector.
