Guard Rails
The use of Guard Rail Systems on highways as a safety barrier is quite well known and is popular throughout the world.
Millions of kilometres of roads are fitted with these systems to protect the vehicles from skidding away and avert fatal
accidents.

Gabion Matresses
Gabion mattresses are box units where typical standard sizes are 3 or 6m long & 1 or 2 m wide. Height of each unit
is less than 0.5m and subdivided into compartments. Each compartment or cell so formed has an area of 2mx1m or
2mx2m in plan. Manufactured in similar construction as that of Gabions, the mesh Sizes of Mattresses usually are
60x80mm and supplied with Zinc or Galfan coatings, with or without additional PVC coating for additional corrosion
protection. The mattresses are usually used for Riverbeds and channel lining for Erosion protection and are also
used to provide under scour protection to retaining structures.

Gabion Box

Sac Or Cylindrical Gabions

These are made from hexagonal wire mesh consisting of mesh twisted around in a cylindrical form & laced. The
Cylindrical core of the Sac gabions are filled on land & then placed on site for speedy installation / construction.
Usually used to build dykes & groynes, they are also used to regulate water flow & for marine structures.
Geo Textiles
Non-woven

Geotextiles made from polypropylene cut (staple) fibers, formed into a uniform web and then needle-punched
for entanglement to achieve high strength. For certain applications, the non-woven geotextiles may then be heat
treated by forced air thermal bonding and/or by calendaring, which is pressing with a hot roll and high pressure.

Product Advantages

Nonwoven geotextiles have the highest coefficient of friction against soil or stone, and have the ability to locally
elongate to relieve stress concentrations to avoid construction damage and the nonwovens conform well to irregular
ground surfaces. Nonwovens have higher permittivity and water flow, yet have a tighter pore size to be a finer filter.

Product Functions

Nonwovens provide separation, filtration, drainage, asphalt absorption; and cushion/protection.

Geo Textiles
Woven

Woven Slit Film Geotextiles

Strong, durable geotextiles made with tapes/yarns slit from polypropylene film and then stretched to maximize
strength. Yarns are woven on into highly uniform geotextile fabrics in widths up to 17.5 feet (533 cm). Polypropylene
is highly resistant to a wide variety of chemicals and extreme pH environments and the polymer is treated with
additives for extended life even when exposed to UV light.

Product Advantages

Slit film wovens are the most widely used geotextiles because of their application versatility, high strength and
construction survivability/durability at the lowest cost.

Product Functions

TerraMatt W geotextiles provide separation, reinforcement, filtration, (the function is filtration, not drainage but non-
wovens can allow drainage within their plane) and containment.
