DIN RAIL CHANNEL

DIN rails are the long metal strips that form the core
part of a global industry standard component
rail-mounting system in equipment cabinet racks.
DIN rails are designed for securely attaching
electrical and industrial control products – such as
circuit breakers, terminal blocks, power supplies,
actuators, solenoids and so on – inside a typical
equipment rack housing cabinet or frame.
Electric Wire Ferrule

An electric wire ferrule is a metal tube crimped over stranded wire to secure the
strands within a screw terminal. Electrical insulation may be included to protect
any exposed portion of the wire not completely inside the screw terminal
post.Stranded wire is preferred for most electrical
applications because it is more reliable than solid
wire. It is more flexible and durable because repeated
bending will not cause it to break. Stranded wire can
be more difficult to terminate, because the individual
strands tend to separate after insulation is removed.
PUSH BUTTON

A push-button (also spelled pushbutton) or simply button is a simple switch

mechanism to control some aspect of a machine or a process. Buttons are typically
made out of hard material, usually plastic or metal. The surface is usually flat or
shaped to accommodate the
Human finger or hand, so as to be easily
Depressed or pushed. Buttons are most often
biased switches, although many un-biased
buttons (due to their physical nature) still
require a spring to return to their un-pushed
state. Terms for the “pushing” of a button
include pressing, depressing, mashing, slapping,
includeg, and punching.
Panel Lug

A blade connector is a type of single wire,

plug-and-socket connection using a flat
conductive blade that is inserted into a
receptacle. Wires may be attached to
male or female blade connectors by either
crimping or soldering. Insulated and
uninsulated varieties are available. In some
cases the blade is an integral manufactured
part of a component, and the reciprocal

connector is pushed onto the device’s connector.

Panel Meter

Panel meters are instruments that display an input

signal in an analog or digital form. Many panel meters also
include alarm options as well as the ability to transfer data to a
Computer. Panel meters take a sample of the voltage or current
to create a visual representation of the measured
value. Voltage measurements are read across the line,
while current measurements are taken in series with
the load, sometimes utilizing shunts or current
transformers when the load current exceeds 10 amps.
verload protection device. When used in such
applications, they are often referred to as motor
circuit protectors (MCPs).
Grommet

A grommet is a ring or edge strip inserted into a hole through thin material,
typically a sheet of textile fabric, sheet metal or composite of carbon fiber, wood
or honeycomb. Grommets are generally flared
or collared on each side to keep them in place,
and are often made of metal, plastic, or rubber.
They may be used to prevent tearing or abrasion
of the pierced material or protection from
abrasion of the insulation on the wire, cable,
line being routed through the penetration, and
to cover sharp edges of the piercing, or all of
the above.
Overload Relay

An overload relay protects electric motors from

overheating by preventing the motor from pulling
More amps than the overload allows. This can
occur when the motor’s circuit is being protected
by a circuit breaker with a higher amp limit than
the motor’s full-load rating. The overload relay
protects the motor by opening the circuit when
the current becomes 115% to 125% of the motor’s
full-load rating.
Contactor

Similar to a relay, a contactor switches an electrical

current on or off. The main difference between a
contactor and a relay is that contactors are usually
larger and used in applications with higher currents,
where a relay is for lower currents. A common use
case for contactors is for controlling electric motors,
which often have high-current loads.
PLC

A programmable logic controller or PLC is an industrial

computer specifically designed for the control of
manufacturing processes, such as moving equipment

and machines on an assembly line. PLCs are programmed

using a specific computer language and are designed to
operate in factory conditions that may include high levels
of noise and vibrations. To control equipment and
processes, PLCs monitor the status of sensor inputs to
control outputs, such as motors, HMI displays, valves,
lights, and solenoids.
Enclosure

An electrical enclosure is a cabinet for electrical

or electronic equipment to mount switches, knobs
and displays and to prevent electrical shock to
equipment users and protect the contents from the
environment. The enclosure is the only part of the
equipment which is seen by users. It may be designed
not only for its utilitarian requirements, but also to
be pleasing to the eye. Regulations may dictate the
features and performance of enclosures for electrical

equipment in hazardous areas, such as petrochemical plants or coal mines.

Transformer

Transformers reduce or increase AC voltages

between circuits. A common application
for an industrial control panel transformer
would be converting incoming 480V AC to
120V AC so the control panel’sother housed
devices can use it.
Disconnect Switch

While a disconnect switch can come in many

different styles and form factors, the overall
purpose is to completely disconnect the
control panel from its electrical supply. A
common use for a disconnect switch is to
shut off power to the control panel to
complete repairs or maintenance, as well

as for emergency stoppages.

Fuse

A fuse is a safety device that protects

an electric circuit from becoming
overloaded by a current that is too
high. Once a fuse has operated, it
becomes an open circuit and you
must replace it.
Relay

A relay is an electronically or magnetically operated switch that makes or breaks

contact to turn on or off a device. Relays
typically allow low currents to activate
higher currents. The relay can achieve this
activation by directing the lower current
to flow through an input circuit and
activating an electromagnet. The charged
electromagnet then pulls the output circuit
closed, allowing a higher current to flow
through the output circuit.
