Memo to Vendors | Wednesday, April 1st

Dear SEE-LA Vendors,

Per the Bureau of Street Services, we are manda ng the following changes to your opera ons at SEE-LA’s
Farmers’ Markets. We know many of you have already made these changes and will con nue to adhere
to them. If you need support or guidance in complying with these rules, please connect directly with
your market managers(s).

Effec ve immediately:

● Food Handling | Keep food away from customers

○ Vendors must handle all food items that are not already prepackaged
○ Each vendor should place food behind them away from the reach of the public.

● Sani zing | Regularly sani ze areas where the public has direct access.

● Cash Handling | Minimize Cash Transac ons

○ Sign up for the WhatsGood App where customers can pre-order (and pre-pay!) for pick
up at your market booth.
○ Consider signing up for Square, Venmo, or other digital payment services to minimize
cash transac ons at the market.
○ If it is not possible to completely eliminate cash transac ons, get crea ve! Figure out a
way to receive cash without touching it. A few ideas:
■ Provide customers a box or bag for customers to drop exact cash payment. Ask
them to count the bills in front of you.
■ Wash or sani ze your hands a er each cash transac on
■ Barter for poems (just kidding and/or you do you)

In addi on, please remember that you must have a handwashing sta on in your booth with a
hands-free spigot, liquid soap, and a catch basin for water (no dumping on the street!) - Water must be
hot or cold with 50 drops of bleach (1 ½ ounces) per 5 gallons of water. Wash hands for at least 20
seconds. Be thorough – soaping up the palms of your hands, the backs of your hands, your wrists,
between your fingers, and under your fingernails.

As always, let us know if you have any ques ons regarding these or previous market changes. We
appreciate you working with us to keep our markets safe spaces for community food access during this
intense me.

We hope you all are and remain in good health.
