A FRIEND

I want a friend
Having the best personality
The world had seen.
I want a friend
Being very smart.
Who falls like the waterfall.
I want a friend
Who always cheers others and me.
Who smiles like an innocent child
I want a friend
Helping me, sharing my secrets
Who share like my mind.
I want a friend
Shine in studies and character
Who shines like a star in the dark sky.
I want a Friend.

Freedom
What does freedom mean to me?
For me freedom is a precious thing’
Without which we cannot live.
What is freedom like?
A bird trapped in a cage,
Waiting for its free and wondrous flight.
I wonder if I were a wind.
Like a wind wherever
It can move,
Touching the sky
And floating over the clouds.
This what freedom means to me.

HARDWORK GIVES SUCCESS
In a forest there lived a sparrow named Linu. He wanted to
build a house. Linu thought it is so much work to collect twigs
and other things. But his friend Boni said,” Let’s find little twigs
at first”. After that they found big strong things to make the
nest. When they got everything it was easy to make the nest.
“Look, it is your small steps which made this final result”. Said
Boni happily.

ICE CREAM MAN
When summer’s in a city
And bricks a blaze of heat,
The ice-cream man with his little cart,
Goes trundling down the street.

Beneath his round umbrella,

Oh, what a joyful sight,
To see him fill the cones with mounds,
Of cooling brown and white.

Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry

Or chilly things to drink.
From bottles full of frosty- fizz
Green, Orange, White or Pink.

His cart might be a flower bed

Of roses and sweet peas.
The way of the children cluster round
As thick as honey bees.

My Blue School Bag
I have a blue School bag,
In which I keep my books.
So nice and smart it looks,
When it’s strapped to my back.
My bag has my snacks.
An apple and a bun,
Eating with friends is fun,
In lunch break at school.

When I need her.
My Little Sister is the
Best little sister ever.
My Little Sister has a way of
Making everyone laugh when
They are sad.
My Little Sister is one of a kind
My Little sister is annoying too,
But still I love her anyway
My Little Sister is also

The wise cock and the Wicked Fox
Once there lived a wise cock in a village. One day he was taking
rest on the tree top when a wicked fox passed that way. The
fox looked up and saw the cock and decided to eat it. So, he
said in a sweet voice: “Hello dear cock, I bring you news from
heaven. There is a new order given to all birds and animals to
live together in peace and become friends”. The cock was
astonished and asked:” Is it true?” The fox replied:” Yes of
course. If you want to test it, why not come down?” The cock
began to think. He said “won’t you wait a minute. A few of our
friends are coming along”. “Friends! Which friends” asked the
fox surprised? “I see some hounds coming. Let us wait for
them” answered the cock. Hearing this the fox started to run.
The cock asked, “Why are you running and what happened to
our friendship?” The only reply was “forget it”.

A Teacher
A Teacher is like a lamp,
Who gives us the light of knowledge.
A teacher is like a flower,
Who gives us the scent of education
A teacher is like a captain,
Who gives us direction to our life ship.
A teacher is like a farmer,
Who cultivates good qualities in a student.
A teacher is like the earth,
Who loves equally all her children.
A teacher is like God,
Who gives new life and new vision.
So, a teacher is great.
A teacher is noble.
A teacher is lovable.

Importance of green leafy vegetables in child’s health

Green leafy vegetables are viral for growth and good health of children
as they contain all important nutrients.
Iron deficiency is very common in India among children and infants.
Leafy vegetables are rich in mineral nutrient and iron. So inclusion of
greens in daily diet would help prevent anemia and promote good
health.
In India nearly 30000 children under 5 years of age go blind every year
due to vitamin A deficiency. Carotene in greens gets converted in the
body to form vitamin A which prevents blindness. Green leafy
vegetables are also rich source of calcium which help in bone growth
and development. Beta carotene for skin and eye health, vitamin c
which can improve immunity and fight germs.
Recommended dietary allowance of green leafy vegetables for children
of 5 to 10 years is 50 gram/day.
So cultivation of leafy vegetables should be encouraged by children in
kitchen and school gardens and it is the responsibility of parents and
teachers to feed our children with enough greens for a healthy society .

Editor’s message
The class magazine “Fly high” is the fruit of team and
hard work put together by our teacher and students.
“It is a birds imagination not its wings that determine
how high it can fly”. “Fly like an eagle. The eagle flies as if
it never remembered once it was an egg”.
“When everything seems to be against you remember
that an airplane takes off against the wind, not with it”.
I thank the Almighty God for showering his blessings on
us every time and gifting us one more opportunity to
express our ideas, activities, achievements and artistic
skills.
As this magazine “Fly high” illuminates the skills of my
friends, we would like to welcome the opportunity to
share this magazine with everyone. I like to express my
deepest gratitude to my class teacher and dear friends
who helped me to publish this wonderful magazine.
