I suggest you download everything: click the Combined Files tab which is shown
in Figure 3-6. If you have trouble downloading as one big file, then click the
Individual Files tab which is shown in Figure 3-7. Regardless of which method
you choose, you must select release version 15.1. Be sure to download the same
version we are using.

■■Tips  Altera isn't limited to a single version. You can install newly released versions after you install 15.1
without having to uninstall it. Keep in mind, though, that it will take up to another 13GB of space. It’s also
possible to use the Akamai DLM3 Download Manager in a Window machine to download the Linux version.

3.2.3.1 Download Select Checklist

Before you click the Download Selected Files button, please double-check that you are using the same
selection as the following list:
• Select release: 15.1

• Operating system: Windows

• Download method: Akamai DLM3 Download Manager (probably faster)/Direct Download

• For Individual Files tab selection: you need to download the following things
• Quartus Prime (includes Nios II EDS)
• ModelSim-Altera Edition (includes starter edition)
• MAX 10 FPGA devices support

If everything looks good, then click Download Selected Files either in the
Individual Files tab or the Combined Files tab. After you pick a download
location and save, the download manager opens and begins the file download
process (Figure 3-8). If you cannot use the download manager, select Direct
Download and click the download arrow next to each file (Figure 3-9). You may
ask for login to myAltera again in this step.

■■Tip  Select the location storage that can handle files bigger than 4GB (e.g., NTFS). It allows you to move the
.tar file easily after you’ve finished the download.
