    MID TERM

    Objective: to write a guide about a skill using purpose words and referring pronouns.

    Unit 1 – Talk

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    A. Read the article on page 17 “What kind of learner are you”?


    B. Do the activities a,b,c,d on page 17 to understand the use of the purpose words.
    C. Think of a skill you know how to do well. It can be something to do with study, work, sport or a free-
    time activity. Make notes using these questions:
    1. How easy is it to learn this skill?
    2. What are the problems people have when learning it?
    3. What are good ways to learn this skill?
    4. Why are they good ways?
    D. Write a 100-120-word guide on how to learn this skill.
    E. Use words/phrases to introduce purpose (in order to / so(that) / to /
    F. You can also use phrases like: - It is a good idea to + verb
    - Another good way to + verb
    - It is usually easier to + verb
    - At first it is best to + verb
    - The most important thing is to + verb
    G. Use “this” or “these”, if possible, to refer back to ideas.
    H. You can use Cambridge/Oxford Dictionary to help you.
