Hello Holliday ISD Families,

As we began the 2020-2021 school year, there were many uncertainties about how the year
would progress. We outlined our return to school plan and have followed that plan to navigate
the issues we have faced along the way. In order to best serve our students as we started back to
school, Holliday ISD offered two instructional options to our families: on-campus traditional
instruction and remote virtual instruction. As we stated in our plan from the beginning, we
would continue to evaluate all areas as we progressed through the year.

After careful consideration and much discussion, the Holliday ISD School Board voted to change
the criteria for off-campus remote instruction effective January 5th, 2021. What this means is
that all students will need to return to on-campus instruction beginning January 5th, 2021, unless
they meet certain criteria. Students that have medical certification for COVID-19 high risk will
be granted an exemption and can stay remote. Students that are quarantined or that test positive
for COVID can go remote for the duration of their time off campus as well. All other students
will need to return to the school setting for instruction.

This decision to change the criteria was not taken lightly and we firmly believe it is in the best
interest of our students to be in the classroom where they can take advantage of the instruction
and support provided by a professional educator. Our teachers have done a tremendous job in
providing remote learning to this point, but the remote option was never meant to be a permanent
alternative to face to face instruction.

We are making this decision now in order to give our remote families as much advance notice as
possible to make the best decision for your student and family. After the Thanksgiving break,
campus principals will be reaching out to every family that is currently receiving remote
instruction to discuss your options.

Once again, we appreciate your understanding and support as we work through this school year.

Sincerely,

Cody Carroll
