Learning Points

Apologizing and Responding to Apologies

When you feel badly about something you do, you apologize and say you are sorry. You can
use the Simple Present tense. You can also add an explanation. Some expressions of
apology are:

• I'm (so/very/terribly) sorry!

• I apologize ...
• We would like to apologize ...

To respond to an apology, you can use these expressions:

• No problem!
• No worries!
• That's all right.
• Don't worry about it.
• No harm done.

Expressing what You Want and Would Like to Do

When expressing something you want you begin the sentence with I want, or I would like.
Both are used when expressing a want, but we consider I want to be informal, and I would
like to be more formal.

I want .. say sorry for what happened

to get some coffee.

I would like .. to apologize for the delay.

to walk around the airport.
