EXPERIENCE.
Aircraft type training shall consist of theoretical training and examination, and, except for the
Category C ratings, practical training and assessment.
There are three levels of aircraft type training. Level 1 General familiarization, Level 2 Ramp and Transit
and Level 3 Line and Base Maintenance.
In addition to information’s contained in level 1 and Level 2 training, a Level 3 Line and Base
Maintenance training provides Detailed description, operation, component location,
removal/installation and bite and troubleshooting procedures to maintenance manual level.
Category A aircraft maintenance engineers license
A category A aircraft maintenance engineers license permits the holder to issue certificates of release to
service following minor scheduled line maintenance and simple defect rectification within the limits of
tasks specifically endorsed on the certification authorization. This certification, privileges shall be
restricted to work that the license holder has personally performed in the maintenance organisation
that issued the certification authorisation. Category A holders require an applicable task authorisation
issued by the CAR 145 organization after they are trained and assessed on performance of actual task.
A recommended format of the exposition is included in Appendix [III]. When the maintenance training
organisation is approved in accordance with any other CAR which also requires an exposition, the
exposition required by the other CAR may form the basis of the maintenance training organisation
exposition in a combined document., as long as the other exposition contains the information required
and a cross reference index is included based upon Appendix [III]. When training or examination is
carried out under the sub-contract control system the maintenance training organisation exposition
should contain a specific procedure on the control of sub-contractors as per Appendix [III] The GCAA
may approve a delegated exposition approval system for all changes other than those affecting the
