TITLE: THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN INDUSTRIAL GROWTH THROUGH
TECHNOPRENUERSHIP.

Technology has become more of a necessity in this era, dominating every aspect of life to the
extend that you can’t live without it. One way to understand technology is through the
schematic definition presented in the text entitled “Society and Technological Change” (Volti
2009). In it, technology is defined as “a system created by humans that uses knowledge and
organization to produce objects and techniques for the attainment of specific goals” (Volti
2009, p. 6). A growth industry is that sector of an economy which experiences a higher-than-
average growth rate as compared to other sectors. Growth industries are often new or
pioneer industries that did not exist in the past. Their growth is a result of demand for new
products or services offered by companies in the field. (James Chen, Oct 2019).
Technopreneurship can be defined as follows: Integration of technology, innovation and
entrepreneurship. “Act of turning “something” into a resource of high value by converting
good ideas into business ventures that relies heavily on the application of human knowledge
for practical purposes” by Rueben Liceira, March 2020. Technology advancement is starting
to take over the car manufacturing industry. In a space of time it will totally control the
automobile industry.

In pursue of conservation of fossil fuels, car manufacturing industry introduced electric cars.
They are better for the environment. Electricity can be a renewable resource. They require
less expensive and less frequent maintenance. They are quieter than gas vehicles. There are
tax credits available for owners of electric cars. There are special highway lanes in some
places for electric cars. Without pumping any fumes into the air, electric cars can help
achieve cleaner air and fewer greenhouse gasses. Because electric vehicles are more efficient
in converting energy to power cars and trucks, electricity across the board is cleaner and
cheaper as a fuel for vehicles, even when that electricity comes from the dirtiest grid.
Running electric or hybrid cars on the grid in any state has lower greenhouse gas emissions.
One advantage of electric vehicles is that many can be recharged wherever they make their
home, whether that’s your home or a bus terminal. This makes electric vehicles a good
solution for truck and bus fleets that return regularly to a central depot or yard. As more
electric vehicles hit the market and are used more broadly, new recharging solutions,
including adding more public charging locations in shopping centres, parking garages, and
workplaces, will be required for people and businesses without the same access at home. The

2
electric cars will be in high demand as already the world is emphasising on conservation of
energy and also because of high demand of fuel since there area large number of cars causing
fuel shortages in some parts of the world. Thereby many electric car manufacturing
companies will expand.

Autonomous driving is set to change the automobile industry’s face by eliminating the need
for a human behind the wheels, by introduction of self-driving cars. Electric cars already have
a cruise control system with a stop and function that implements this feature. The cruise
control system works by using 30 control sensors all over the vehicle to provide information
about the vehicle’s surroundings to the processor. The cruise control system can detect the
vehicle travelling ahead of your automobile and automatically adjust the travelling speed
from 0 to 155 miles per hour. The system employs two radar sensors in the front of the
vehicle that allows the control system to manoeuvre the vehicles. You will also have the
option to make changes to the acceleration rates of the vehicle. Other automobile
manufacturers are using autonomous driving systems to perform automatic parking of
vehicles without the driver’s intervention. This system uses sensors to detect the space
available and calculates the exact way to park the automobile. Google is also developing self-
parking systems that utilize remote driving technology with the help of lasers on top of the
roof. You can even use a universal roof rack for carrying luggage on your vehicle without
compromising the autonomous driving and self-parking features. The lasers help create a 3D
map of the vehicle’s surroundings to guide the automatic navigating procedure. These
technologies can determine the parameters of your vehicle, such as the number of passengers,
weight in the vehicle, and more to facilitate precise driving. Technology is already aiding
driving without the constant feedback of a driver, and fully autonomous driving is going to
become a default feature in the upcoming automobiles soon. Due to the elimination of
monotonous driving people will scramble for the product since there is a guarantee of safety
because the steering will have sensors that will sense the awareness of the driver and will
adjust to lower speeds reducing risks. Thereby accidents risks will be eliminated and will be
encouraged by governments therefore marketing the automobile cars.

Mass production and outsourcing of parts mean that automobiles are available at lower rates
and readily available due to more production than at any time in history. With the rise in the
per capita income of the world population and the decrease in the cost of automobiles, there
is a massive surge in demand for cars across the world. With the use of electric vehicles,

3
automobile owners can cut down on transportation costs by one-third of conventional fuels.
The automobile industry is innovating on technology, such as hybrid vehicles and cars
running on alternate fuels. The introduction of alternative fuels will help reduction of air
pollution. Electric cars are gaining immense popularity nowadays all over the world due to
spiralling fuel prices. With the human impact on climate causing harmful effects on the
environment, every industry is turning towards more environmentally friendly technology.
The burning of fossil fuels is a significant contributor to degrading the environment, and the
governments around the world are implementing strict laws on emission norms. Making
changes to your lifestyle and how you use your vehicles can significantly lower emissions.

Technology have moved some miles by developing predictive automobiles. Machine learning
and predictive technology have a significant impact on the predictive capabilities of vehicles
in the automotive industry. This technology is capable of providing a highly personal driving
experience. You can set up the application preferences and the infotainment system of your
vehicle by using algorithms. Automobiles are also becoming capable of understanding voice
commands and connecting with smart devices. The sensors can also provide notifications to
the owner of the vehicle if there is a need for service. Due to the reliability of some
applications that are existing this will make it easy to be acceptable in society.

One of the technology advancements is Augmented Reality Dashboard in automobile

technology. With the use of augmented reality, you can transform your windshield as a screen
for displaying information to the user. The system can show relevant information through the
HUD, such as current weather, speed, gas mileage, RPM, speed, and much more. The
navigation technology with the use of holographic symbols allows drivers to follow
directions without the need for taking their eyes off the road.

In automobiles safety is being guaranteed by technology advancements. The use of tiny

cameras all over the vehicle allows the driver to check for hidden objects that are difficult to
see for the driver from the driving seat usually. There are tire pressure sensors, lane change
sensors, and collision control sensors that prevent accidents. The use of an anti-lock braking
system and traction control are also allowing drivers to stay in control of their vehicle while
driving.

Technology brought about luxury and convenience as seen in some recent models of cars.
The models take manoeuvrability to the next level as one of the most technologically
advanced cars available today. Its available four-wheel steering system turns the rear wheels

4
slightly so you can easily manoeuvre it in tight spaces. The models equipped with that system
has a tighter turning radius, perfect for crowded urban areas. Among full-size luxury sedans,
the models embrace the latest technologies and gives you a driving (and riding) experience
built around them. With its plethora of gadgets, cutting-edge powertrain, and slick
multimedia features. Adaptive and air suspension systems are becoming more commonplace
as automakers look to such setups for their ride and handling balance. The automobiles are
one step ahead of the game with a predictive suspension that uses the navigation system to
prepare for the road ahead, and even raise the car to minimize passenger injury during a side
impact. Radar sensors and cameras work well and all, but if you want to be the most
technologically advanced car in your segment, you need some freakin' lasers. The
automobile's active driver assistance features kicks things up a notch by utilizing an array of
gizmos, including lasers, to keep you from getting out of your lane or hitting other vehicles,
pedestrians, and animals. Heated seats are so yesterday. If you're a full-size luxury sedan on
sale today, like the recent automobiles, you'll also need heated armrests to make sure your
riders are in total comfort.

A technologically advanced car needs to do well in the comfort department, too, especially if
it's a full-size luxury sedan. Add the Executive Rear Seat Comfort package and you'll be
treated to more than just a massage for your back and bum. Your feet will also get the first-
class treatment thanks to massaging footrests. A full-size luxury sedan like the Audi A8
needs to drive comfortably and isolate rear seat passengers from the outside world. It also
needs to entertain them, and for that you get one of coolest rear seat remotes ever found in a
car. As one of the most technologically advanced cars, the Audi A8 has a smartphone-like
controller for its rear seat entertainment system, perfect for lounging around and devouring
multimedia while getting chauffeured to your next destination. As one of the first automakers
to feature a fully digital gauge cluster, Audi was at the forefront of onboard technology. The
automaker's Virtual Cockpit trades the analogue gauges for a 12.3-inch reconfigurable
display that shows you everything from your trip computer to your maps. You'll find the
latest iteration of Virtual Cockpit can be found in the A8 and other new generation cars
models. Latest MMI system is a key feature that makes the car one of the most
technologically advanced cars currently available. Featuring two massive touchscreens
supported by haptic feedback buttons, the cars cabin gives a minimalistic yet tech-forward
vibe every time you get in it. Every time you unlock the automobiles at night, you're treated

5
to a sweet light show flaunting the car's awesome exterior illumination. So, the next time you
want to impress your tech-savvy friends, all you have to do is hit a button on the key fob.
However; Electric cars have a shorter range than gas-powered cars. Recharging the battery
takes time. They are usually more expensive than gas-powered cars. It can sometimes be
difficult to find a charging station. There aren't as many model options. Emissions from cars
and trucks are not only bad for our planet, they’re bad for our health. Air pollutants from
gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles cause asthma, bronchitis, cancer, and premature death.
The long-term health impacts of localized air pollution last a lifetime, with the effects borne
out in asthma attacks, lung damage, and heart conditions. As the COVID-19 pandemic — a
respiratory disease — continues to spread, a study by Harvard University found “a striking
association between long-term exposure to harmful fine particulate matter and COVID-19
mortality in the United States,” explains Rashmi Joglekar, 2020 April, a staff scientist at
Earthjustice’s Toxic Exposure & Health Program. One of the primary causes of fine
particulate matter pollution (PM2.5) is combustion from gasoline and diesel car engines.

Autonomous driving is becoming a central moving force towards the change in vehicles and
therefore among others the automobile and mobility business, as well as numerous other
industries, which today still believe that they do not have a relationship to digitalized
autonomous vehicles. The changes in different industries, which can be initiated by
autonomous vehicles, are a good example of changes, which can be initiated by digitalization
on market places. This article is based on the hypothesis that the development of automated
and later autonomous vehicles is an unstoppable development, which will be of great use to
the economy and society. The convergence of customer demands, electrification, and
connectivity is revolutionising the automobile industry to make more technological changes
in the next decade. Vehicles are also beginning to offer internet connection to passengers
allowing up to 7 devices to connect at a time. Innovation and creativity are the foremost
priority of automobile brands to improve customer satisfaction and sales. With the world
going digital, automobiles are also using the opportunity to integrate smart technologies into
vehicles that serve to enhance your ease of use.
