MODULE 1

LESSON 1: COURSE OVERVIEW

ACTIVITY 1.

Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the following
questions. Write down your insights in your Study Notebook.

1. What is the main delivery of this course?

The world is in the midst of our battle against the unseen terror, the pandemic brought by
COVID 19, the virus that hit the world not only here in the Philippines but worldwide. Everybody is
vulnerable. COVID 19 made a great impact and affects different people in many ways. One of which
is education.

Education is every important. There is once a saying from a great writer “Education is the
passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”,-Malcolm X., the
reason why DepEd took initiative to look for means on how the Education should continue despite
of the situation that we are currently facing. DepEd Order No. 12 states to how they come up the
decision to continue educating the children and planning the Most Essentials Learning
Competencies to be taught to the students.

This course will help the teacher to be effective and efficient when it comes to delivering on the
lesson opposite from practice of instructions’ delivery. The fact that it will be hard for the teachers
to cope up with the new normal, it will be easy for them to adjust since it will help/guide them to be
prepared on delivering the learning modality.

2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the “new
normal”?

“A new normal is a state which a society, etc. settles following a crisis, when this differs from the
situation that prevailed prior to start the crisis” based from Google website. This means that we
have to adjust to a new way of living and going about our live, work and interactions with other
people. And this course will significantly help the teachers in delivering quality instructions to their
students.

Since we don’t have cure yet to the virus, the best option for delivery of instruction is the SLM.
This type of modality is more convenient not only for the teachers but also for the children.
Students are more vulnerable to the virus that is why DepEd has the option to pursue SLM just to
ensure the safety of the learners but also the teachers. This module will suffice the knowledge of
the teachers when it comes to delivering the lessons. This will give the teacher the idea on how,
what, why we should cope up with the new normal.

3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this course?

The DepEd formulated the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) and one of it’s critical component
is enabling teachers and school leaders to use the adopted learning delivery modalities effectively.
So to make this possible, the Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 (LDM2) for Teachers was
designed and implemented. This course is divided into two parts. The first part is the LDM selection
and implementation planning which consists of four modules that will take about 20 hours to
complete. The second part is the practicum component of the course covering LDM implementation
throughout the school year. These two are the support mechanisms that will help me with my
learning in this course.

So to make LCP critical component realistic, LAC sessions were scheduled to help each
teachers in the department effectively deliver instructions to the learners.

ACTIVITY 2.

Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table in your Study Notebook.
1. How will my personal characteristics and circumstances affect (positively or negatively) my
participation in this course?

2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that will hinder
me from completing this course?

LESSON 2: ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC)

ACTICITY 1

Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s.
2016 titled “The Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program SchoolBased Continuing
Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.”

Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write your responses and any other
ideas and reflections in your Study Notebook. 1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC
sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.

Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:

1. To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students

2. To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
3. To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole
4. To nurture successful teachers

2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and elaborate.

Challenges are a part of everyday life. They make us stronger and without them, life becomes
somewhat meaningless because we have nothing to compare the good times to. In this activity,
there are 3 top challenges that we may encounter to having a successful Learning Action Cell (LAC):

1. Poor internet connectivity.

We cannot deny the fact that Philippines belongs to the country that supplies the
slowest internet connection. Unlike other country, they supply almost fastest internet
connection to their client. We are now experience health crisis and the most essential means
of communication is through internet. It is impossible for us to have a face to face session
with our co teachers, internet connection plays a vital role. Since connectivity is concern, it
would be very difficult for the instructional coach or instructional leader to deliver the
modules if some of the participants have poor connection.

2. Lack of focus and support

It is pretty common trait across all humanity. We are not machines, and or so our
mind occasionally wander. There are a lot of factors why we cannot focus on the things
we do. When you’re unable to concentrate, you can’t think clearly, focus on a task or
maintain your attention. Your performance at work could be affected if you can’t
concentrate. You may also find that you can’t think as well, which can affect your
decision-making. What are the cause of being unable to concentrate?
1. Lack of sleep due to work overload.
2. Stress intolerance
3. Anxiety
3. Willingness and cooperation of the members
Members play a vital role for the LAC to be successful. Cooperation and participation
is very important during the LAC session. It will be hard for the instructional coach/
leader to deliver the discussion of the module if the members do not participate.
Insights not only from the dealer but also from the member is encouraged.

ACTIVITY 2.

According to DO 35, s. 2016, a LAC should have no less than 2 but not more than 15
members each. Get in touch with your designated Coach or LAC Leader in forming your LACs.
1. Agree on a date and time to meet and discuss forming your LACs. Follow LAC Session 1 Guide for
the conduct of your LAC.

2. During this meeting, decide on your groupings and designate one LAC Facilitator and one LAC
Leader per LAC.
3. Note the following in forming your LACs:
• LACs should be composed of teachers. Discuss your preferred LAC composition with your
assigned Instructional Coach (this will be a district or division supervisor assigned to your LAC).
• After forming your respective LACs, there should a LAC Leader assigned to you from among
the following school members:
» Master Teacher
» Head Teacher/Department Head
» Other senior teachers who have proven competence, potential to lead, or subject
expertise to lead the LAC.
• Teacher LACs can connect with their Instructional Coach through the LAC Leader. This
Instructional Coach will also be handling multiple LACs through a network of LAC Leaders.
