Answer:
Survival is the action of staying alive in the field with limited resources. It requires a
knowledge of how to live off the land and care for yourself. It includes the skills of being
able to sized up the situation, capable of controlling any unnecessary movements,
requires remembrance of where you are, you need to vanquish fear panic, it requires you
to improvise, value living, acting like natives, and living by your wits. This skills will
help you survived in any different situations.

4. Define the three accordingly:


 INTELLIGENCE
Answer:
Intelligence refers to the knowledge acquired by the collection, evaluation, analysis,
integration and interpretation of all available information concerning the enemy,
whether actual or potential.

 COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE
Answer:
Counter- intelligence refers to all active and passive measures taken to ensure the
safeguarding of information, personnel and materials from espionage, subversion, and
sabotage.

 INTELLIGENCE CYCLE
Answer:
Intelligence Cycle refers to repetition of what has transpired or become known. It is a
continuous process thus there is no such thing as the first or the last phase.

7. Give three types of scale and their definition.


Answer:
3 Types of Scale:
1. Small Scale – it is used for general planning for strategic studies at high echelon. It
has a scale of 1: 600,000.
2. Medium Scale – it is used for planning operations, including the movement and
concentration of troops and supplies. Its scale is larger than 1:600,000 but smaller
than 1: 75,000.
3. Large Scale – it is used for tactical technical and administrative need of field units. It
has a scale of 1: 75,000.

8. What is a map?
Answer:
Map is a geographical representation of the earth surface drawn to a scale in a flat plane.

9. Give five types of map and their definition.


Answer:
5 Types of Map
1. Plainmetric map - showing only the horizontal (flat) position of features.
2. Topographic map - a two dimensional map which represents the horizontal (flat and
vertical relief) positions of features represented.
3. Plastic Relief Map – a topographic map reprinted on plastic material and formed by
heat and vacuum over a reproductive positive molds this giving the same information
as topographic map.
4. Photo Map – a reproduction of photograph upon grid lines, marginal data, place,
names and boundaries may be added.
5. Joint Operation Map – used for ground and air operations. The maps are published in
a ground and air edition.

10. Give four reasons why map is important.

1. Used for strategic, tactical planning in all command.
2. Used to show the relative position on a certain given area.
3. Used to show accurate distance, location, best routes and key terrain features.
4. To avoid lost and keep alive.
