VIDEOGAMES AND VIOLENCE

In many cases, video games have been identified as the cause of shootings and other types of
aggression by youths and children. In fact, a study conducted by a research team from Brooke
University in Canada showed this. The study was published in the journal Developmental
Psychology, which mentioned that adolescents are more aggressive and violent towards others
after playing video games for years.

This study is one of the most definitive to date, because it uses a combination of subjective and
objective data to measure aggression and violence of adolescents in games. Unlike previous
research on the subject, which relied heavily on self-reported data from adolescents, the study
used information from parents and caregivers to judge the level of aggressive behavior in their
children.

But can video games really cause violence among young people? What do you think?
