This training was conducted during our Wednesday meeting. It was held by a board
office member and every staff member had to attend. Our principal, Crystal Gibson, also
attended to hear questions and concerns that we had. This meeting was on the heel of a two-day
shutdown of our school due to a student’s Covid-19 positive case. This meeting was one of the
more important ones that we had and I feel very important for administration to attend.
Our school had its first positive Covid-19 case, which forced the school to close down for
two days. Even though we knew something like this could happen, we were not prepared to
service our students on those two days. A member of the board of education came down to
advise us what needs to happen if we close again. We are required to send home five days of
packets to our students without internet in case of another closure. We also are required to post
on Teams and document any communication we have with students. That work is to be for a
grade. During this training, the conversation came up of when our students are receiving their
devices that were promised. Unfortunately, the school board is now backtracking and not every
Covid-19 has thrown administrators to the wolves and events that they thought they were
prepared for; we are discovering that nobody is prepared. When a board member comes down for
a training, administrators should attend. I was surprised that only our principal was there. They
