Chimera-

History-
Chimera was a three-headed monster which ravaged the countryside of
Lykia (Lycia) in Anatolia. It was a bizarre fire-breathing creature with the body
and head of a lion, a goat's head rising from its back, the udders of a goat, and
a serpent for a tail.

Use-
Chimeras are seen as a potential way to address the lack of organs for
transplantation, as well as problems of organ rejection. Scientists believe
organs genetically matched to a particular human recipient could one day be
grown inside animals.

How-
Chimeras are formed from at least four parent cells (two fertilised eggs or
early embryos fused together). Each population of cells keeps its own character
and the resulting organism is a mixture of tissues. ... The likelihood of offspring
being a chimera is increased if it is created via in vitro fertilisation.

Who are involved?

Counrtries like US, UK, China, and Japan are taking part to better
understand the possible opportunities of developing a chimera, containing cells
form an animal and a human. It has been proven that with greater technological
advances we are definitely not far from those answers. Japan and China as one
of the leading tech giants have created chimera’s which are still closely
monitored. Pigs, there are a number of similarities between humans and pigs.
These include various anatomic and physiologic traits, such as organ placement
(and often size and function), skin similarities and some disease progression.

Monkeys and rats have also been tested in different ways however none have
been more successful than pigs ever was.
