Consumerism

Everyone knows that we live in a culture of consumerism. But few

people understand the full extent of the problems it causes or the effects that
it has on each of us. Consumerism is one of the strongest forces affecting our
lives in the modern world. And what can we do to change that?

In the beginning let’s talk about all those clothes we buy every day in
shopping centers. For example clothes’ stores offer new clothes almost every
week. And of course we want to buy it. I want to buy it as same as almost all of
us, extremely girls, because if we talk especially about clothes we want always
wear something new, something stunning, colourful and so on. But in this case
I found an option how can we at least reduce consumerism of clothes and just
not to heap of our closets from items we have never used. Now is extremely
popular buy some of your clothes from other hands. First of all is much more
cheaper and thus contributes to nature protection.

Second important thing: plastic. There are so many people who always
cries and tell everyone what to do: how we are wasting plastic issues, how do
we not respect ourselves and they sometimes event counting all your plastic
bags we have used. Everything is good if that person really contributes to the
reduction of plastic pollution, but for me it is very annoying then they lie to
themselves. And here we can stop our discussion when I see he or she is
buying coffee and using one- time cup. If you want to save the world from
plastic first you have to behave yourself.
The last topic I chose is food wasting. In my opinion this consumerism
is one of the worst. When I talk about myself and my family I have to admit
that food is being thrown out. A little but it does. My family, when we are
cooking, trying to consume every vegetable, every piece of meat, if it is
possible. But in restaurants, shops food is thrown away much more. In fact I
always thought the food with the slightest broke was thrown away
immediately. But I had oppurtunity to volunteer at an institution that gives
food, which is last expiration date for those who needs. And I was so happy
that people still trying they best to help not waste that much food as some of
us still does.
In a conclusion, as I said before we must behave ourselves first if we
want to change our lives. If your room is loads of items that you never using,
say goodbye to then. Donate for others or sell them. If you buy biscuit pack,
think about are you going to eat them today. If not- just buy one for now. Pick
out carefully everything what are you using, buying and help yourself to live in
a greener world.
