is needed for applications such as
hand creams and lotions to form a
more uniform film and effective
barrier.
Compatibility
The incompatibility of silicone fluids
with certain cosmetic ingredients can
be used to increase water repellency
or reduce tackification by
incorporating the silicone in additive
amounts. The compatibility table
shows the room temperature
compatibility of
DOW CORNING 200 Fluids
(50-60,000mm²/s) with various
cosmetic ingredients. Test mixtures
were rated compatible "C" if they
were completely miscible; and
incompatible "I" if they were
completely or even partially
immiscible.
REGULATORY STATUS
DOW CORNING 200 Fluid
(50-60,000mm²/s) with viscosities up
to 5,000mm²/s are referenced in JSCI
under the chemical name Methyl
Polysiloxane with the code 104210 in
the CSL categories 1-11: No limit.
DOW CORNING 200 Fluid
(50-60,000mm²/s) with viscosities
from 12,500 mm²/s are referenced in
JCIC under the chemical name Highly
Polymerized Methyl Polysiloxane
with the code 520396 in CLS
categories 1-7, 11: No limit and 8, 9,
10: Not used.
