Science, Technology and Society

1. How did society shape science and how did science shape society?
Science shape the society trough the application of scientific knowledge and modern
techniques as it goes along with the development of the society, while society shaped
science according to the demand of society like inventing new things. A great example is
a demand in health needs like medicines and medical apparatus. Also in technological
demand of the people for a comfortable and convenient living, like rice cooker, washing
machines, refrigerators, cellphone and gadgets etc.

2. How do social and human issues influence science?

Society today was modernized and high-tech because of science. Science make
everything easier for example in agriculture we have technology or machines for
planting until harvesting that's why we don't need man power anymore, so the main
problem is modern technologies make people jobless.

3. How do the political and cultural landscapes of the society affect the development of
scientific culture, science activities and science literacy?
The political and cultural landscapes really affect the development of scientific culture,
activities and literacy. Let just say that science and religion are like water and oil,
because religion is based on faith while science is based on evidence. Like here in
Philippines the study of science is limited because it is a religious country that's why
Philippines is lagging behind when it comes to the field science.

4. Considering the current state of our society, do you think science literacy among people
has contributed to the growth of our economy?
Scientific literacy has a big contribution to the growth of our economy, because it makes
people smarter. Our society today is well modernized because science we have different
technologies that can make everything easier. In fact science literacy helps the economy
because it preps people to deliver smart solution to current problems.
