SUBJECT: Release of Sanctioned Interpretations related to the new standard

IATF 16949:2016 1st Edition and release of the fourth revision of
IATF Transition Strategy Document

The purpose of this communiqué is to advise all IATF-recognized certification bodies,

suppliers, and other key stakeholders that the IATF has approved nine (9) Sanctioned
Interpretations to IATF 16949:2016, 1st Edition.

The approved sanctioned interpretations are related to the sections 3.1, 4.4.1.2, 6.1.2.3,
7.2.3, 7.5.1.1, 8.3.3.3, 8.4.2.1, 8.4.2.3, and 8.7.1.1.

Sanctioned interpretations alter the existing published requirements of the IATF 16949:2016
standard.

In addition, the IATF has approved a revision to the IATF Transition Strategy (Revision 4).

These changes are being communicated in October 2017 and are effective as of publication
of this CB Communiqué 2017-009.
