CAMERA LENS
A lens might be permanently fixed to a camera, or it might be interchangeable
with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

Zoom Lens
Any lens with a changeable focal length is considered a Zoom lens

Fixed or Prime Lens

Any lens with a fixed focal length. This is a lens that can not zoom and only has
one view.

Normal or Standard Lens

A lens that matches the angle of view of human vision. This is a 50 degree view.

Wide Angle Lens

A lens with a field of view wider than the angle of focused human vision or standard
lens. Lens between 24 MM and 50 MM are considered Wide angle.

Telephoto
A lens with a field of view Narrower than the angle of focused human vision or
standard lens. Lens between 50 MM and 1000 MM are considered Telephoto

Fish Eye Lens

A lens with an angle of view about 180 degrees. Recognizable by their extremely
curved front glass.

Super Wide Angle Lens

A lens with a focal length wider than 24 MM.

Focal Length

Focal length, usually represented in millimeters (mm), is the basic description of a

photographic lens. It is not a measurement of the actual length of a lens, but a calculation
of an optical distance from the point where light rays converge to form a sharp image
of an object. The focal length tells us a lot in terms of the angle of view, how much of
the scene will be captured, the magnification and how large individual elements will
be.

The longer the focal length, the narrower the angle of view and the higher the
magnification. The shorter the focal length, the wider the angle of view and the lower
the magnification.

HOW OUR EYES SEE

The Angle of vision for the human eye is roughly 130 degrees wide. This allows us to
see in an the style of an arc. While we have a large angle of vision our focus is much
shorter than this. The full angle of human vision that is in full focus is only 50 degrees.
