Induction training Induction training is where a senior leader from
a job shows a new employee how things are
done. The senior leader will make sure to teach
the new employee everything they need to know
in order to take on the job role. Each company
will have a different way of doing an induction
training as everybody's circumstances and job
situations are different. The person who will be
giving you the induction training will outline your
responsibilities and teach you how to use the
different facilities and technology within the job.
Performance Performance appraisals are where a manager or
appraisal line manager will sit down with their employees
individually and talk about how they are getting
on with the job. They will talk about the good
things that they are doing and make sure to
make the employee feel good so that it
continues to motivate them to do their job
better. The manager will also talk about targets
to set for the employee. This will help the
employee improve further.
On the job/ off the On the job/off the job training is training done in
job training the same work environment. This is where an
employer will teach you the basic skills and
knowledge needed for the job role. During the
training employees will become familiar with the
technology and equipment at the workplace and
will be able to use them properly. The employer
will demonstrate first and then the employee will
have a turn. This allows the employee to have a
hands on training which makes it easier for them
to familiarise themselves with equipment. Off
the job training is where you are taken away
from your workplace to learn new skills and
knowledge for your job role. For example, school
teachers are sent on training to learn new ways
to teach their students a certain subject.
Coaching and Coaching and mentoring is a good way to
mentoring develop new skills. Coaching is when an
experienced individual gives guidance and advice
to a new employee to help develop their skills,
knowledge and performance. Mentoring is when
an experienced individual will explain how to do
a certain task. This enhances leadership and
coaching skills.
Graduate training A graduate training programme is where
programme graduates are able to start their career without
the need of any experience. The graduate
training programme enables you to view
different areas in a business and build on your
experience, skills and knowledge. Graduates will
get a chance to move from one department to
another to ensure that they understand each job
role well so that they are able to enhance their
skills.
Management Management training is where you get to take
training on a course that shows you what the skills are to
become a good leader and to manage other
people. The skills learnt from management
training allow the manager to ensure that their
team works well and maintain good relationships
with each other and that the manager is able to
manage their employees.
Secondments Secondments are when an employee from one
area will temporarily move to another and do the
job there. For example, if an employee is ill then
another will have to fill in for them so that the
business doesn't have any problems arising.
Secondments allow the employee to understand
the skills and knowledge needed for different job
roles and it helps them enhance their skills and
to learn how to deal with situations in a different
work environment and job role.
Shadowing Shadowing is where a new employee will
observe the existing employee on how they are
doing their job. This allows the new employee to
learn the skills and gain better understanding of
the job role.
E - Learning E - learning is training which is done by using
technological equipment. This could be mainly
done on the internet, as there are many courses
that you can undertake to enhance knowledge
and understanding of a certain topic. E - learning
can also be done via zoom meetings as the two
parties are able to talk and learn new skills and
knowledge from each other.
Vocational & Vocation and professional courses are courses
professional that tend to be more practical and hands-on.
courses Courses that allow you to take part in the
activities rather than write about them. This
allows you to gain full understanding and
knowledge of the course. For example, if
someone wants to become a nurse then after
they have learnt the basics they will have to get
a job or do work experience at hospital.
Job rotation Job rotation is where an employee will move
from one area of work to another, taking on
different job roles as they go on. This is a good
way of ensuring that the employees know what
skills are required for each job role and each
task. If they are able to take on different tasks
and complete them effectively then that will
boost their employability if they intended to get
a job somewhere else.
Lifelong learning Lifelong learning is where an individual wants to
gain more skills and knowledge for their
personal benefit. The learning is initiated and
motivated by themself and isn't compulsory
however, some people like to enhance their skills
and knowledge all the time. Lifelong learning is
done out of school or college.
Retraining Retraining is similar to secondments, it is where
an employee is moved to another job role or
task to do and they will have to get training to
undertake it. The training will be given by the
company they work for and this will also
enhance their skills and knowledge on the job
role. This will help the employee understand
which job role is better suited to them.

I want to start my own real estate agency. To become a real

estate agent, I will have to apply many of the methods stated
above into my business for it to run successfully.

Induction training - If I start my own real estate business, I

will have to ensure that when I decide to apply for a job and
when I get it, that the real estate agency gives me an
induction training first. This is due to the fact that I will be
new there and I won't know the rules and regulations of the
job. I will also need training on using the technological
facilities.
Performance appraisals - If I start my own real estate
business, I will have to get a job first at an estate agency to
ensure that I learn how it should be done. Whilst being there
it is important that I get performance appraisals as this will
allow me to understand what I am good at and what I need to
improve on to become the best that I can.

Graduate training - If I start my own real estate agency, I

have to ensure that I undertake a graduate training
programme before I apply as you need to have a
certificate/license before you can start working at a real
estate agency.
