Answer the following questions:

1. If you are assigned in room reservation what will you do to excess guest if your management will allow to
accept over booking? 5 points

In order to accommodate excess booking I will try phone any other hotel or properties that offer similar standard
price and arrange “bump” guest to that location. Provide transport for free to the other venue that they will be
received.

2. As a professional, what is your view of for a TIP? 5 points

Tip is gratitude in the form of cash given to your high service as an acknowledgement. If you receive a tip
regardless how big or small it is always acknowledge it and be thankful. Maintain high quality service regardless if

Confidentiality is more or secrecy. You are not allowed to tell or divulged any personal data in a

premises there is a rule of thumb “what you see what you hear, leave it here” meaning you are not allowed talk
about it outside the company properties. All of this is to ensure the protection of the lives of all people - staffs and
guests alike. Otherwise you will face a possible legal suit.

3. What is GREEN WASHING? Explain and give examples of hotel publication that shows their
implementation of greenwashing.
Greenwashing is when a company or organization spends more time and money on marketing themselves as
environmentally friendly than on minimizing their environmental impact. It is a deceitful advertising gimmick
intended to mislead consumers who prefer to buy goods and services from environmentally conscious brands.

Hilton Head Island

There’s a huge hanging poster and then additional placards placed all over the lobby with the words – Make a
green choice. The placard describes how in exchange for a $5 food voucher, guests can forgo changing their
towels and sheets during their stay, thereby saving many gallons of water and units of electricity.

I was intrigued and decided to Make a green choice. In actuality what happened was that there was no cleaning
service whatsoever during my stay. Forgot not changing sheets or towels, no one even came into my room to
collect my recyclables or trash! After one day, I immediately realized that the Westin was not as concerned about
saving water and electricity as it was possibly saving on labor costs. With enough guests Making a green choice,
the cleaning staff has fewer rooms to clean on a daily basis, which eventually means that there is no need to have
as many people on the cleaning staff. Pure math with the added benefit of making guests think they are being
environmentally conscious. This is greenwashing!
