Application
1500V DC ’GF’ Contactor

In a central PV inverter it can be necessary to switch the DC side in order to disconnect PV strings for
output optimization. Grid codes sometimes require a central PV inverter to be used for grid
stabilization at night, this requires all PV panels to be disconnected on the DC side.

Circuit Monitoring System - CMS
The range at a glance

The CMS family

− CMS is a compact AC and DC multichannel
branch monitoring system
− CMS-660 enlarges the portfolio, targeted at
solar string monitoring and up-to-date
system status
− Open-core sensors can be used to retrofit
into existing solutions, thanks to its special
design, directly on ABB fuseholders, MCBs,
RCDs, RCBOs

Key Selling Points
CMS-660

Minimum space requirements One sensor for all currents and strings
Everything needed for monitoring (current, CMS sensors measure any kind of current -
temperature) is available in ultra-compact direct, alternating or mixed - in a wide
sensors. The monitoring of two strings can measuring range up to 80A, allowing to
be combined into one single sensor. combine two strings into one sensor.

Easy retrofitting and upgrade Simplified installation

The system can be extended or modified at Save up to 30% of installation time thanks to
any time thanks to its extreme flexibility and quick mounting of sensors in few steps. No
modularity. special tools needed for connection process.

Smart commissioning Up-to-date system status

Thanks to the intelligent, intuitive CMS-660 allows to improve the maintenance
configuration, the CMS system can be of the system, immediately detecting
configured and put into operation in just a unusual system status (e.g. solar shading,
few minutes. overvoltages, breaker trip, high temperature)
