Service delivery in public office requires skills in administration. This process entails
coordinating an institution to work towards achieving its goals. Managers in the public sector
need to design solutions to every problem in the organization. They need to account for every
coin spent in such situation. One of the organizations that need appropriate public administration
is the Yale New haven hospital. This institution is a nonprofit hospital operated by Yale new
haven health systems. The hospital began its operation in 1826 and operated as one of the four
voluntary hospitals in US(Yale, 2017). Today with a capacity of over 1500 beds, it hands many
patients and also an institution for training medical experts. The hospital needed open a new unit
To begin with, this problem needed a firm consultation from stakeholders. The hospital is
managed by board of trustees and senior managerial posts. They include the chief executive
officer Mrs Marna P. Borgstrom, president Richard D'Aquila, finance and chief finance officer,
human resource manager, chief nursing officer and other delegates within the leadership
ranks(Yale, 2017). Their contribution towards service delivery is vital for the continuity of the
organization. The role of public administration is vested in the leadership of the hospital. The
After an agreement was made for project delivery, the outlined plan had to be
supplemented by the required resources. Firstly, the financial resources needed for running the
project was the key towards success of the project. Also, a human resource team had to be
selected. These includes the expertise in the construction industry, government consultants and
hospitals project managers. Physical resources like land, building materials etc. were evaluated
from the construction plan. With all these resources the project was on the way for prototyping.
The project began after formation of an oversight team of fifteen people. They comprised
government representatives. These people formed the basis of project evaluation and quality
control. Project managers brought relevant experts on table to decide how to run the construction
in phases. A time frame for each task was approximated and the required resources and
manpower was given. During the first two months the contractor submitted his progress on
foundation and all the expenditure for the work done. The rest of the construction from
plumbing, electrical work, masonry was done on time and within the budget range. The
government representatives signed the relevant documents on quality control. Also financial
auditing was done by government agency. Within one year time frame given, the project was on
completion.
The hospital wing was opened for eye care treatment in 2019 February. There was minor
changes during roll up of the project like fixing children washrooms, paint finishing. The
construction companies involved were tasked to maintain the building for one year. This process
was done to ensure a perfect work delivery is done and the building gets a long life guarantee of
In conclusion, the project was a treasure to the organization as it came out timely and
within the budgeted framework. However, the organization did a fantastic job to keep other units
working. For example the funds used to pay workers were sometimes used to supplement
emergencies but the coordination within the financial department ensured that no delays were
made during payments. Also, managerial staff always found time to discuss the project as they
let their secretaries handle other duties. Time management and approximation was the best
lesson learnt in project. Discipline, honesty and trust made a vital role in bringing the team
together towards delivering the best in the project. Indeed, public administration requires
