LASTRA, JAY MARK F.

-TASK#6

1.what challenges does the teacher face in designing and implementing performance-based standards?

-There are several challenges faced by teachers in implementing and designing performance-based. The
implementation cannot be accomplished effectively due to several factors. Lack of knowledge about
performance assessment, unable to utilize supportive equipment’s and technological materials, unable
to assess objectively which lead to giving undeserved notes to students, unable to interfere students
and learning environment effectively, and lack of time are considered to be the constraints which
influence the use of authentic assessment in classroom.

2. How should the teacher overcome these challenges?

-Time management, individual responsibility, honesty, persistence, and intrapersonal skills, such as
appreciation of diversity and working cooperatively with others, are examples of work habits necessary
for a teacher to be successful and overcome challenges. Teachers do not have to “give up” units of study
or favorite activities in a performance-based classroom. Because authentic tasks are rooted in
curriculum, teachers can develop tasks based on what already works for them. Through this process,
assignments become more authentic and more meaningful to students.

3. What role do the learners play in the design and implementation of authentic assessment?

-Performance/authentic assessment requires students to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and

strategies by creating a response or a product. In other words, the learner must actually use their
learning to perform. These tasks typically yield a tangible product or performance that serve as
evidence of their understanding and proficiency. Ultimately, students shouldn’t simply have arbitrary
knowledge and not be able to do anything with it. It’s important to make sure students have the skills
they’ll need in the real world.
