Identified areas to be included in phased plan

1. Patio – Zone 1 area adjacent to the house for a seating area. To include pots and other
planter solutions such as interesting found objects and moveable beds such as beds on
castonets and wheelbarrows, planted with herbs, salads and scented plants. The patio has a
gate which enables the adjoining to friend's patio for shared recreation. This gate is to have
vertical gardening display – use edges and value the marginal. When facing the house to the
left of the patio is a bed 78cm wide with a flowering raspberry currently in situ and a small
easy access woodshed and planter with a climber and trellis to grow up the wall to be added.

2. Cottage Garden Edge – A long bed with great existing planting to be rearranged and
interplanted with further flowers, herbs and perennial vegetables chosen from planting
scheme suggestions.

3. Shaded and Damp Cottage Garden Edge – Shade loving useful and aesthetic perennials
chosen from planting scheme suggestions to be incorporated into existing planting.

4. Forest Garden Edge - `Area of Apple trees, current bushes and raspberry canes the under
story planted with sorrels, strawberries and herbs, to be reclaimed, some repositioning,
mulching and interplanting of other forest garden plants. Minimum input maximum yield.

5. Raised bed area – Area of weeds and building debris to be removed and some cottage
garden plants to be re purposed as an area for raised beds for vegetable growing. Obtain a
yield.

Identified structures to be in phased design

1. Pathway – Stone pathway through area prone to damp to lead through the bottom of the
garden.

2. Shed – Small shed to house tools and some luggage.

3. Woodshed – Woodshed attached to shed.

4. Art Wall – The side of Mandy's shed is not able to be planted against of have trellises
growing up as Mandy wants to access the wall to re varnish occasionally. The problem is the
solution – The shed wall to be re purposed as an art wall. Made up of hooks and ledges the
aim will be to have ever changing and detachable art shown here.

5. Greenhouse – Small greenhouse approx 170cm/150cm for growing tomatoes and basil.

6. Small woodshed – Easy access seasoned woodshed on patio.

7. Pots and moveable planters on patio – Ideas such as planted wheelbarrows, found objects,
beds on wheels as well as pots all enjoyed.

8. Vertical growing fence – Removeable salad troughs, ceramic bowls, re purposed bottles
and salad wall pouches potential solutions.
