REVISED

Practice Hand hygiene.

Apart from alcohol, sanitizers, wipes, and other disinfectants, practicing proper hand washing
using a soap is important to prevent and reduce the prevalence of health associated infections
and antimicrobial resistance. The soap dissolves the fat membrane coating, hence, the
destruction of viruses (Mathur, 2011; Kawahara, Akiba, Sakou, Sakaguch,i & Taniguchi, 2018).

Practice Social Distancing.

Covid-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact with each other. Maintaining at
least a meter of distance can prevent the spread of the disease that can be acquired from other
people’s coughs, sneezes, and inhalation of the liquid droplets (World Health Organization,
2020).

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle.

Not smoking, Getting enough sleep, taking regular exercise and eating a balanced diet helps
our immune system to fight viruses. In fact, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)
Viruses including COVID-19 cannot infect a person if his/her immunity is strong.

Clean and Disinfect Homes.

Use disinfectants that are active against enveloped viruses, such as COVID-19 and
other coronaviruses. Disinfecting will prevent not just COVID-19 from growing, but it will
also prevent other viruses (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020).

Avoid Touching Face.

Touching your face can significantly increase the risk of infection with flu, or cold,
viruses. Your eyes and mouth are areas where viruses can easily enter your body
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020).

Mass Testing.
Mass testing is very important because we can prevent the COVID 19 if we know who
has it. Testing is a great way for an allied worker to stop a pandemic. As the WHO
director general states ”You can’t fight a virus if you don’t know where it is” (Castello,
2020).
