*Our speaker enlighten us about the importance of the tissue culture. And
they also discuss to us what is tissue culture all about, from collecting the
sucker up to getting the tissues of the banana. And they also tour us to their
plant nurseries

*Speaker introduced to us how field works and their operations. But before we
go to the field first they educate us the history of the banana, and its variety.
And then they also told us the do's and don’ts inside the field Operations like
never take pictures inside the field.

Modified Sucker selection
* Speaker gave us a lecture about the life cycle of a banana, its body parts
and they also teach us how to calculate the population of the banana inside
on a designated area or lot, peeper, identifying the sucker and the follower.

Plant nutrition /fertilization
* The speaker make us understand about the importance of applying
fertilizers and what kind of fertilizers is applicable to the plants. Before
applying fertilizer first you have to clean the surroundings around the banana
and make sure that you also follow the distance of putting the fertilizers.

DAY 5 (February 13, 2018)


Pest management [ thrips, scale insects, defoliators, rodents]
* Our speaker [MCJ] gives a lecture about the life cycle of thrips, scale
insects, defoliators, and rodents with their behavior and characteristic in the
mother plants, follower, and it's habitat on how they survive and how to
eliminate those pest using cultural and chemical ways.

DAY 6 (February 15, 2018)


Root pest management [ Nematodes, corm rot, due to worms and corm
weevils]
* The speaker taught us about the damage characteristics, and the life cycle
infiltration of the nematodes, worms that can cause corm rot and the corm
weevil.

DAY 7 (February 20, 2018)


FRUIT CARE
[PBB]
* The speaker define us how important the PBB operation in banana
plantation of TADECO. PBB is so much important because it helps to prevent
the pest, like tthripsand nymps that can gives to banana damage. And they
also showed us what's the proper way in performing the PBB operation, the
proper outfit, and also how to identify the age of a bud base.

DAY 8 (February 22, 2018)


Fruit spraying

5 D's
* Our speaker share to us about how valuable fruit spraying, bagsok, and 5
D's to the production of the banana industry and also for TADECO
COMPAMY. And they also show us how to perform those 3 operations to
produce a high quality banana products and a high quality of export bananas
to the other countries.

DAY 9 (February 27, 2018)


Cable guying
SI/Mealy bugs control
* Our speaker taught the purpose of cable guying, and how importance cable
guying and Scale insects for bananas. Our speaker introduced first cable
guying they show us the proper demo of cable guying to banana tree without
damaging the leaves.

DAY 10 (March 01, 2018)


Sigatoka/ freckles
Plant deleafing
* Our speaker introduced to us the sigatoka and freckle performance in the
leaves of the banana tree plant. And how far would be the damage ot will be
disregarded. Our speaker share their way on how to avoid those diseases
through cultural and chemical control ways and they so show us the
ingredients added to it.

DAY 11 (March 06, 2018)


Pre/Post harvest disease
* The speaker educates us about the importance of indentifying the pre/post
harvest diseases. And what are those operations indicated to these practices
to avoid losses and the primary cause why pre/post harvest needed an
attention in producing a high quality volume production to the banana industry.

Vascular disease and Control
* The speaker provided us a wider understanding about the pathogens
infiltrating field of the banana plantation. Our speaker also showed us the
example of different kinds of pathogens.

DAY 13 (March 20, 2018)


Irrigation and drainage
* Our speaker explain and teach us how important the damage and the proper
irrigation in maintaining the high quality of banana production. And they also
show us their functional and their facilities in the field to support the growth of
their plants. And they also show us how to operate those machineries for their
irrigation and it's designated functions to the different direction in the field.

DAY 14 (March 22, 2018)


Pre/Post harvest
Packing house operations
* Our speaker [ RPZ] present his lecture to us and also his presentation and
he allowing us to understand the importance of pre/post harvest operations.
And our speaker also showed us how to perform harvest before we proceed
to the packing house station. And when we proceed to the packing house
station we need wear the proper attire first then after wearing those proper
attire we go inside the packing house station and we see the different process
of cleaning the banana fruit and we also the different types of banana fruit, we
see on how they pack the banana and we observe properly.
