Artifact Instructions

Each artifact must have an introduction (see template below) and this must be located directly on
your website (do not attach as a separate document). In addition, you will create an Artifact
Summary Sheet (see template below). Lastly, the maximum word count for artifacts are noted in
parenthesis below. If no maximum is indicated, you may submit a document up to 20 pages.

Note: All artifacts must be created during the SDA program.

Artifact A: Resume Development


Current polished resume (will create and revise in SDAD 5900)

Artifact B: Integrated Mission Statement (1-page max)


Introduction to who you are (text, pictures, video) that captures the intersection of your personal
and professional values and actions (one integrated mission statement).

Questions for consideration: Your personal dimension articulates what you believe, value, and
how you live your life or act towards others. Your professional dimension focuses on how and
why you serve your (a) profession and (b) students. Make sure to provide illustrative examples
with your core values and actions.

Artifact C: Best Academic Work in the SDA program


Sample of your best written work from an SDA course that reflects your commitment to diversity,
equity and inclusion, and Jesuit context (e.g. global perspective education, community
engagement or service-learning, social justice advocacy). The sample should exemplify your
growth and development in the SDA program. Your paper must include references.

Artifact D: Best Demonstration of Professional Practice


A presentation, research study or programming development that demonstrates the application of
knowledge to student affairs practice. This artifact can come from any course.

• Best presentation: A PowerPoint/ Prezi presentation you have created in a course


during the SDA program.

• Research/Programming Development: A research project or professional program you


have done, or a proposal for research/program you might like to do.

Artifact E: Professional Letter of Promise or Letter from Internship Supervisor


A narrative review of your promise as a student affairs professional, to be written by one
professional of your choice in the field OR a letter from an internship supervisor.

Artifact F: 3 Year Professional Development and Action Plan (1-page max)


After reassessing your NASPA/ACPA competencies, create a one-page 3-year action plan for
continued professional development as a student affairs administrator. Your action plan should
specify and align with NASPA/ACPA competencies. You are encouraged to develop this plan in
consultation with your professional mentor(s).

Artifact G: Distinctive Contribution


A final document that demonstrates a distinctive contribution you have made or created during
the SDA program for which you are particularly proud. If you could include one final piece to
demonstrate your understanding of the profession or competence in the student affairs field,
what would that be?
